Autumn’s Revelries
By Lord Jaezred Vandree
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 ½ ounces of 5 year-old Royal Auburn Harvest cider brandy*
• ½ ounce of lemon juice
• ½ ounce of egg white**
• ⅓ ounce of sticky toffee syrup
• The Grand Old Duke cider* to top up
• Ice
*Beverages from the Autumn Court’s ducal distillery, made with tart red apples picked from Duke Tolven’s orchard groves. They can be difficult to source in the Material Plane, thus feel free to substitute for any other apple cider and apple cider brandy. You need only be sure that the cider brandy is not too aged, as you would want a bottle that still has an appley flavour.
**Can be substituted for aquafaba.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Mix all ingredients except for the cider and shake without ice.
2. Add ice and shake again.
3. Rim a wine glass with sticky toffee syrup.
4. Strain the mixture into the glass and top up with cider to your liking.
AUTHOR’S NOTES:
The Wandering Court threw a masquerade party in the Autumn Woods to celebrate the coming of the season just the other day, and I must say, in spite of its truly…majestic…host, it was a most splendid soirée, with company equally delightful and beautiful in their resplendent costumes and masks — among the very best of what the Feywild has to offer. However, certain events during the party reminds us all that even a king must watch out for things being put into his drink, lest he finds himself in a sticky situation. The foamy white colour of a piña colada can conceal all sorts of unsavoury liquids, like…a powerful glue, to take a totally random example. Not that this author would know anything about that, though; you might say that my lips are firmly sealed.
Anyhow, this cocktail was inspired by that wonderful autumnal soirée. A classic seasonal treat made into a drink, it has those recognisable warm autumn flavours and aesthetic that is sure to kindle the cheer of a good harvest. Needless to say, it is best enjoyed in front of a crackling fireplace with auburn leaves falling outside the window.
And to top it all off, the Dawnlands’ star mixologist Leona Autumn is making a glorious return to Daring Heights! She has been staying with the Wandering Court after her cocktail bar, the fiore popolare in Castleside, was burned down during the gith invasion, but now she has come back with the intention to revive her beloved business. Darite drink enthusiasts and all of high society await her next move with bated breath…
