"Wake up."
My eyes opened. A room, pale walls. A candle burns. The fire. I move my legs, the pain shoots through me. I don't feel it. I don't feel anything.
"Look forward but never forget."
I stagger and place a bandaged hand on the door. Footsteps on the stairs. I wait. A smaller man enters. I recognise him and pin him against the wall. He protests. He nursed me back to health he says. 10 days out. But I see it. I see the guilt and hear the lies. He'd done nothing when they came. He'd known. He let them in. He'd unlocked the gates....
"He'll talk."
The confession was quick. He gave me names and a place. His voice cracked between the sobs and tears. He pleaded and begged. He wanted mercy for his confession. Knuckles are red. Bloody. Vengeance will not wait. I swore the oath.
"Never forget."
Her face. Their faces. They haunt my dreams. Unmoving. Unageing. Like statues. The dead eyes. I will see them again, but not yet. I have work to do. Hoar whispers to me.....
"You are Gabriel. My messenger."
I walked out of the house as the flames and screams grew. Kantas is calling me. There will be justice. There will be punishment. There will be vengeance.
