“There’s always a better story round the next corner, in the next town, over the next hill, or at the bottom of the next drink.” – Lachlan Thorne
Lachlan grew up on the streets of a minor port-town tucked away in an inconsequential corner of the world.
Smaller than most, Lachlan learnt to survive on his quick feet and even quicker wits. And those he couldn’t out-run or out-fight, Lachlan found he could entertain, charm, befriend, and otherwise out-think with his curious talents and clever tongue – abilities that seemed to come to him as naturally as breathing.
Lachlan rapidly rose through the ranks of the local thieves’ guild, but always took more pleasure in listening to and depicting others’ exploits than actually taking part – but that’s not to say he didn’t amassed a few notable achievements of his own.
Coincidentally, about the time a misunderstanding with a minor noble’s son finally forced the law to take an official interest in him, Lachlan realised he had grown tired of the limited narrative potential provided by the town of his birth. He decided the moment had come to find a bigger page on which to pen the next chapter of his life.
Blagging his way onto a trade ship with nothing but the clothes on his back and a ‘salvaged’ rapier at his side, Lachlan left his childhood behind and began to search for a story to tell that was worthy of his talents…
