Daisy wrote this letter to her younger sister Dazneth, the only member of her family she’s still in touch with.
“Dear Daz, you’ll never believe the day I had! The fun that I had, danger that I faced, the creatures that I met and oh the treasure I found! But let me start from the beginning.
Yesterday I joined a few fellow travellers for a trip down to a Purple hill, nearby my new hometown, Daring Heights. My companions heard there might be a portal to a parallel dimension. Yes, you read that correctly. I did not know what we could find there, but hey, you know me, when did I say ‘no’ to anything purple? I thought at least I could collect some rare flowers.
We arrived at the hill and suddenly herbalism was not so important anymore. I couldn’t believe my eyes – the place was full of small flying faeries, just like the ones from the bedtime stories Uncle Nakoval used to tell us when we were little. They live in beautiful flower houses spiralling down from the trees. I must say my idea of a dream home got to a different level! These creatures soon revealed to us the portal to their homeland – the country Feywild.
Once we entered the portal to the Plane of Faerie, for a moment I thought I was blinded. The colours around were so dazzling that all the gold and gems from the mountain back home would seem dim in comparison. Speaking of dim, it was of special interest for my associate, half-orcish man Anwen, to come to Feywild as he was hoping to find his father. I can sense your judgement on such company but try and keep an open mind here. In Daring Heights networking is everything.
Lucky for all of us, a wise wizard was already waiting for us here. The vision came to him that we can be of help to each other. Humbled, I learned that we were in fact in a presence of an ancient Eladrin, named Raegous Melthorian. We soon found out that many ages ago he fought in the Great War of Feywild with Anwen’s father, so he offered us a well-paid job promising to share the information he held about the man. Done deal. In an instant, the wizard teleported our team to his front yard.
And just like that, we ended up in the wizard’s house fighting off Darklings, cursed fey creatures, who took over the house while he was away. Hiding in the dark, they managed to blindside us and sneak their knives through our armours, wounding me and Anwen badly. But our team was well prepared for a fight and while the rest were holding small darklings off, a brilliant spell from my companion Erik brought me back to conscious. Weakened, I collected all my druidic power to transform into a dire wolf and tore the elder darkling in pieces.
What a fight did we have but how rewarding. Not only we helped Anwen to learn that his father serves as a guard for the Riverking, Lord of Feywild, but I managed to catch a local bee called a Drakesting. Only afterwards I realized that these are rather dangerous! I couldn’t help to bring it home and study its behaviours and venom. What a find! It will be surprising for our mountain relatives, but treasure is not all gold and jewels. Nature sends us treasures far greater than cold metal.
Daz, I can’t wait for you to turn 50 and finally move out and join me on more adventures!
Anwen’s dedication to find his father made me think about our parents... How are they anyway?
Write me back soon!
xoxo Daisy”
