The events of the day were violent and cruel.
Such mindless rage. Such blind destruction. So many judgements to be deemed before their time.
Following the words of the whisper I had travelled, leaving behind my quiet camp and moving onwards, towards the emerging city I had heard tell of from travellers, D’Avalon.
I found a young kitten alone as I entered the city. Her dark fur was as beautiful and mysterious as the desert night sky I have been guided by these nights past. She did not speak but clung close to me, wide eyes full of fear as the citizens prepared for what appeared to be an incoming attack. None seemed to have noticed her presence.
“Mow little one, you are safe with me.” I comforted, as I took her in my arms.
On the steps of a great temple I encountered a group of warriors, lead by a Bigg’cat, a ruler, their king, The group did not understand all my familykin tongue I am sure, but they allowed me to join them in their defence against the tainted evil winged ones. A feathered matron of vast might assured me the kitten would be kept safe within the temple during the fight and relieved her from my care.
The battlefield was wild. Many of our number almost fell to the flames and blades of the lizards and their riders, each time saved by a spiritual resounding ringing from the temple tower.
Above us, the Bigg’cat downed many a flying evil by his hand alone. Truly he has been bestowed such power by the gods as a vessel to right these corruptors of fate.
Even his imbued might though, was not enough to hold back this surge of corruption.
A final battle was fought with a downed, but still vengeful lizard upon the steps of the temple. It’s weakened state still buckled many of my company around me as we fought, myself almost succumbing to it’s darkness. Till it drew its final breath.
Gracious Kelemvor had deemed I would not die this day.
Others however, were lost.
A woman of beauty and grace, caretaker and voice of the temple. Too much of her life force had been spent in her pursuit to protect others, faded away to the howls of aguish from the Bigg’cat.
I assured him she would be judged favourably by Kelemvor for her actions this day.
This place was no longer safe, and a pull inside me like before told me I must press on.
As I made to follow my new companions and many of the city residents to a new place of safety known called Daring Heights, I tried to give a final goodbye to the kitten that had shortly been my charge…
But she was no where to be found…
