Hey Sis,
I’ve given up writing to Mum if she’s not gonna acknowledge my reports anymore, so you’re the next candidate for receiving my life updates. Feels good to keep putting this information to paper, someone outside of Kantas should know the wild stuff that happens here.
This mission was a bit more of a spiritual one, like more introspective stuff, but there was still plenty of bloodshed. So basically the introspective stuff was for Elias, and the bloodshed for the rest of us.
Apart from the obvious people present, there was also Ruk (absolute book nerd), Jaezred (smartass noble dude), and Varga (absolute unit with a chinchilla cafe). We all met in the Flourished Hook, had a little catch up and then Elias’ mum, The Lady of Silence, turned up to give us the deets on what needed to be done. She’s a chilling woman, like literally.
So yeah, Elias wanted to write some wrongs it seems and one of those wrongs was creating a rift between the Bloodwood tree and the Amber Duchess. Feywild stuff, politics involves trees over there. But the aim was to help this tree heal, help the Duchess heal (and hopefully out of her coma), and to do so we needed to initiate the forming of a new sapling that the Duchess could rebond with.
I’m not super sure of the full intricacies of what we needed to do, but I did know that we needed to help Elias get to the base of the tree so they could perform a specialised ritual with their Mum. Which sounded easy enough, but Jaezred did some mystic asking and we knew going into this that the tree would be fighting back, fighting us.
So we got there, whole place was freezing cold and covered in snow, and yeah this massive tree obviously didn’t look that happy even to me and I ain’t a botanist or anything. Once inside the ritual eventually starts, Elias and their mum going into some trance but luckily it also summoned this sphere of blue force around them. An extra layer of defence for what was to come.
And well, we were quite literally hit with a force of nature. The roots of this tree were smaller down here, but when one whips into your legs it fucking hurts. And that wasn’t even the end of it, these black sap ooze things also started emerging and attacking us as well as the sphere. This Bloodwood tree was defo not happy with any of this.
It felt like forever before Elias and their mum came to, and I guess it worked cause the tree backed off and even showed a new face to us. Like a mini dryad, and they went by the name of Woody according to Elias (and I think they were bonded now? I dunno how plants work). With the new sapling we made moves to the Central Palace of the Summer Court to give it to the Duchess, and then like Queen Merla showed up and gave us a royal hand wave onto the premises (a heist would have been pretty cool, but I guess having adventurers also being fey queens does make things a little easier).
And the Duchess opened her eyes! So that part worked too. All round successful mission really.
Love,
Wren
P.S. The crime team really miss you and Lexi. Percival won’t stop saying he misses your ‘high class company’ and that Lexi was the perfect poetry buddy. It’d be cute if he wasn’t being so annoying about it.
