Dear Brother,
You had me promise before I left that I'd write whilst over in Kantas, and I'll admit I was reluctant at first but there is something about this place, maybe this is the fresh start I've needed.
Mother would have called it divine intervention, I consider it sheer luck, but it seems I arrived at Kantas just at the right time. A big war has just ended and though it seems that the fighting is over, the people here are still hurting. I might be able to actually do some good here after all, there is plenty of work for those willing to get stuck in and help.
Speaking of getting stuck in; I spent last night rummaging through trash, water and charred remains left from the war. I didn't receive any coin or glory for this work, no, what I ended up with was a pyramid of sticky black incense that smells disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if you could smell it from this note.
This job, if you can call it that, was pinned up by a druid named Vitex. Vitex lives in the sewers of all places, apparently the nature down there thrives, yet is unappreciated by the 'street dwellers'. Her 'circle', 3 druids named Racoon, Weed and Glass, used the cover of darkness to help fix up the town - roping in myself; another Tabaxi named Lucky; a Dwarfen man called Mendal, Boosya the Harengon (who makes exceptional carrot cake) and a Kobold, who I have come to call a friend, his name is Digs.
Job 1 - Turn a town of trash into one of treasures. We scoured the streets looking for anything, not so damaged, that it could be upcycled and made useful again. My contribution as lookout from the roof tops neither helped for hindered but by the end the party as a whole gathered enough fabrics and metals to allow Glass to do their thing and see uses in what others would see as useless.
Job 2 - Clearing the harbour of driftwood and sunken ships. Initially greeted by a seal, who later revealed themselves as Weed, we were put to work out on the water. And thanks to our new druid friend, I do mean On and not In.
They cast a spell that allowed us to walk on the surface of the water as if it was solid stone and thanks to Boosya I was instilled with the strength of a bull to help push large pieces of broken ship further down street.
Now there is room for new ships, and trading can begin again.
Job 3 - Clean the streets. Like I said before, Kantas has been hit hard and although I didn't see this town before the war, it hurt to see it in this state. Even approaching Port Ffirst, you could spell the death and decay that had laid waste here, the unmistakable smell of burnt flesh. The cobblestones stained so hard that the rain couldn't wash it away, even magic rain brought on by Mendal. The party got scrubbing, it's all there was to do. Nothing fancy, no spells, just do the work and make a start. After some inspiring words and a few slips and trips, we looked up and realised....we had barely made a dent in the work that needed doing.
I hope you and the family are well Brother, I still can't believe you tell your litter stories about Old Uncle Prowler, the adventurer. You glorify me far more than I deserve.
Though I must admit, this noble and lionhearted Tabaxi in your fables has given me something to aspire to.
I hope to hear back from you soon brother.
