[DTA 09/05/22] Pit Fighting II : Strike - the Iron is Hot
Anåbæl sank back into a warm bath in the Three-Headed Dragon, allowing herself a well-earned moment of relaxation and weary satisfaction, offset nicely by a few of her favourite snacks to nibble on and a bottle of wine. After two weeks in the pits, she was starting to get her eye in, although still losing more rounds than she won - but only just!
Lawson Maw Cragmoor had certainly been no pushover, and had just about managed to edge a small victory. All in all, they had been pretty evenly matched - Lawson a little slower with his spear perhaps, although making up for that with the solidness of his connections - Ana's natural resilience easily matched by the confident way the he handled his own shield to deflect her blows. A Gladiator from Cormyr, Laswon is well known real showman and crowd pleaser. With the fight that Ana put up he had certainly been able to live up to his reputation, and the crowd had certainly got their money's worth (10 GP of which eventually found its way to Ana). Ana starting with just a little more fatigue from her days spent adventuring, and (more recently) long hours in the forge...
At least Samed's face had been left beaming once again by the end of the few days that Ana had been able to spare him. With her hands on the bellows and the furnace a radiant white-hot cavern Samed and his foremen had managed to make significant inroads into their backlog of orders - enough that he was more than happy to hand over her earnings (25 GP for her pocket, as well as insisting on settling her bill for the week at the Dragon).
