Objective:
Go to a tense business dinner.
Team:
Myself and people.
Conclusion:
The Lenoirs are gone, Soros fed to the sharks and Voros and very life-like statue. Menace will take over their holdings, and therefore the power over Port Ffirst. I can only hope it brings along the good type of change to this place.
But anyway.
Mum seriously what is going on. Some knight by the name of Ser Arrim tried to kidnap me (and massively failed). He said he was doing it in the name of the High Judicator, Clemens Solgare. My supposed dead grandma, who you said has been dead for years.
Can you tell me something? Anything? I want to help you if there’s trouble and there’s obviously a lot of it going on right now and I hate being in the dark about this.
They trudge through the main doors of the Flourished Hook, though they’ve been here quite a few times recently this is the first time not entering through a window and traipsing grime and blood soaked dirt into the clean floor. Wren doesn’t care much for stealth today, they’ve got one thing on their mind after the events that went down at the Lenoir’s manor. Or Menace’s manor now really.
Upstairs they knock on one of the doors of the nicer lodgings and are let in by Lexi, the blonde haired woman holding Booker, Peppy and Beans with ease.
“I was gonna ask if they’ve been a handful, but it seems you’ve got it.”
Lexi chuckles then, giving a knowing look to Lily over her shoulder to where she is sat further inside the room, Percival napping at her feet. “Well, we barely just got them to settle down. Turns out they all wanted to go on this big heist you mentioned. But the look on your face says….” She fully takes in Wren’s post battle appearance and swiftly points to the ensuite washroom, “That you should clean up immediately.”
Lily gives a look of ‘she has a point’ before Wren trudges over to clean up without much argument.
Now cleaned up and in a fresh shirt and trousers, Wren is sitting on the floor by the fireplace surrounded by their snoozing crime team. Lexi, now relinquished from pet sitting duties, is mending some clothing at the table as Lily sits near to Wren on a comfy settee.
Wren’s sister can’t help her flabbergasted look as the story of what went down is told to her.
“You know it’s unladylike to leave your mouth wide open like that.”
Lily immediately snaps it closed before staring daggers at them.
“And since when have you cared for classy behaviour? I’m sorry but what absurd theatrics. They had a gladiator versus shark as their entertainment? And of course the musicians were assassins! I just…” She wipes her freckled face with her hand and sighs, as if tired from just hearing the information.
“And the brothers, the Lenoirs, they had information on all of you present. It seems they really did their homework for the evening, just knowing you were all coming wasn’t enough.”
Wren nods slowly as they reply “Yup, on me, Delilah, Jaezred and Taz. And especially on Menace. I didn’t really look at what they had gathered on the others, didn’t think it was right to be privy to that sort of information. I’ve already just witnessed a huge turnover of power in this town, how much more did I need to be involved in?”
They reach over to their small pack from the heist to retrieve a single page torn from a notebook, they hand it over to Lily almost like it carries great physical weight. She reads it over, twice, three times before carefully placing it on a side table nearby.
Thief. Delusions of morality. Pets could be a lever? Divine connection, check with Faerunian contacts. CLEMENS SOLGARE. Contact says to "Watch your kneecaps"?
“Clemens? As in our grandma who died years before we were born, before mum even moved to Silverymoon.”
Wren looks to the side, trying to recall more information of the night and the brief interaction with Ser Arrim. “Yeah, also goes by the High Judicator apparently and she wants me to fulfil ‘my duty’ or something.” Their face changes into a full grimace, jaw clenching “Hasn’t even met me and is already trying to control me.”
They pause, the air in the room getting a little tense. “I get why mum didn’t want us to ever meet grandma, she’s not exactly giving the best first impression, but why so much secrecy even now? She won’t even talk to us about it, like ignoring it is gonna make this go away somehow, and I can’t help thinking her and dad are in danger right now but we don’t even know. And I…”
Lily shuffles her skirt so as to slide to the floor and kneel in front of Wren, taking care not to disturb the sleeping crime team. “No one will get to control you Wren. And this is not your problem alone either, so don’t you dare bottle it all up in here.” And she pokes Wren’s forehead before drawing them into a strong hug. “We’re gonna figure this out all together, myself and Lexi may not be plane hopping adventurers but we’ve got our own skills and we’re always here for you. We’re going to see mum and dad again okay?”
At this point Lexi comes over to squeeze Wren’s arm in reassurance, and Wren gratefully rests their head on their sister’s shoulder before very quietly saying thank you to their loved ones around them.
