[DTA 19/04/22] Trading - the ring of coin in pocket
Having searched unsuccessfully for a good buyer of centaur rings in DH previously, Ana decided to hold out for a better price. She was unwilling to part with such prizes from the very edges of the known adventuring world, without seeing a more significant profit.
Using her previous investigation as a platform, as well as speaking to other adventurers for advice in the intervening time, she finally comes across a more interested buyer who could see the real value of the rings. She manages to find her way to Getty Ambershield, a dwarven jeweller in DH.
He takes a look at the ring, turns it this way and that, gives it a good feel, sniffs it...
"Remarkable. Haven't seen this kind of bone before. Nice carvings too. Where did you say you got this? I'll give you 10gp for it."
Ana pauses a moment, thinking and then replies:
"That sounds like a fair price to me, although you have got yourself bargain too...This comes from the tusks of an Elephant - magnificent beasts as big as a fort, and intelligent with it! They live with the centaurs who carved these rings - they have humanoid heads and torsos, with bodies and legs almost like horses, and are their guardians, protectors, and 'family' of sorts.
"To answer your question a different way, these are from as far north as north goes - from the plains of Arva, way north of Kundar, Kurzig Vondar, and even Ux Verthica. Even in Kundar itself these are highly sought-after, due to the dangers of trying to trade with centaurs - who are a powerful an war-like people. But my friends and I managed to track them down and persuade them to trade over the course of two-weeks that were truly amazing."
Although she had invested a lot of time, resources and effort to trade for the rings (and then secure a buyer), she is left with a warm glow of pride at a job well done. Ana the Trader ... she can't wait to tell her friends back home all about this - it seems that there are more ways in this world to become rich than by swinging your axe!
Still smiling, Ana packs up her things and sets out for adventures new in Fort Ettin...
