What was supposed to be a normal journey into the Feythorn with his adventuring mates had turned into a day of revelations for Toothy. So much had suddenly been revealed to him, he even had another name to go by now!
He signed the top of the sketch with both his current name ‘Toothy Thy’o Wynraek’ and his birth one ‘Loff'tarien ‘Loafy’ Agrach Dyrr’. An equal sign between them.
The bright lights had drawn his Dad’s attention, and they had gone to investigate what their bright yellow glow could mean. On their way over they had noticed multiple small critters electrocuted bodies littering the forest, especially as they neared the source of the glow.
He adds underneath a scene of the darkened forest, gloomy looking, and beyond the trees is a blanket of glowing yellow light. It covers the forest floor like moss would, and hovering above it are several brighter yellow orbs. They coalesce at the entrance to a small cave beyond the blanket of light.
The brighter lights had been will’o’wisps, and they had been an endless stream of annoyance with their electric attacks and mean words. But during the fight he had noticed something both in the cave and in the trees that were around them. Something he recognised.
On a new page he draws the same small dark cave from before, this time a bright orange feather sits there, little specks added to it to make it look like it’s shimmering. In between the trees he adds the sides of a massive long snake that emerges next to the cave to reveal the rest of its winged serpent body. Its wings the same orange colour as the feather in the cave, it’s scales a wonderful blue colour, and most importantly its eyes the same deep orange seen in the mirror visions of the past.
The winged snake had helped them defeat the remaining will’o’wisps. Introduced themself as Tepany and apparently they had known Toothy for 10 years when he lived in the forest in Faerun, sent as a protector by Lliira. Told us that the lights were servants of Loviatar but didn’t know why they were targeting Toothy, but Tepany was dying and had one last request for us: find their stolen child.
This sketch has the large form of Tepany peacefully curled around a younger Toothy, a small bluebird sitting in his lap. All the figures look calm and sombre, Toothy wearing a single bright orange feather woven into the other amulets in his white hair.
And the pendant too! Tepany passed it to Toothy, saying it was given willingly. Jaezred said it was imbued with bae'qeshel magic, the drow bardic arts. And I asked the question I was scared to almost, where was my mum? Was she even still alive? And apparently she was DH, she had been there all along.
Underneath this scene is another sketch of a silver nightingale pendant, its wings outstretched either of it. Underneath it is the initials J.A.D. ‘Mum?’ written as a note next to the sketch.
After stewing Celina’s finest apples we honoured Tepany’s last wish and ventured to find their missing child immediately. Before leaving the cave and into the woods Kelne looked for tracks, and finding little stumpy ones, a trail of them in fact, they then sat down and had a quick chat with their god. Like when I sit down and have a quick chat with the nature around me. Their god said the tracks were the Fallen One, an ex-paladin of Lliira that Tepany had been protecting me from, and they didn’t know we were coming. Perfect for an ambush.
The next sketch is of Toothy, Jaezred, Kelne and Celina all walking through the forest from left to right in a single line. The forest contains more yellow bright lights, the same as the ones encountered before. On the far right are two figures, a tiny winged snake that looked very similar to Tepany with the note ‘Icpi’ written next to them, The other a mound of vegetation, with wooden stumpy legs and two shining eyes looking out, the leaves are covered in a nasty looking infection. The note ‘Fallen One’ is written next to them.
A fight then begins between us and the Fallen One, but something happens and they suddenly recognise after being restrained, even calling me young Master. And then the fight turned into a conversation, their actual name was Sardaq and they knew me from before as well, way back in Menzoberranzan. He had been shown visions of me as a champion of Loviatar by who he thought was Lliira, but was Loviatar all along. But he didn’t know this and went ahead to try and stop me as a kid, infiltrated the Agrach-Dyrr house as a fencing instructor (he also used a glaive, that’s where I picked it up from!) He was the one that led me to the forest on the surface in Faerun, but he hesitated and asked Lliira one last time for guidance. She gave kid me blessings, not judgement, and so he knew he had been fooled and was fated to be cursed by Lliira herself.
This sketch shows the mound of vegetation that is Sardaq in detail, the cursed infection more evident now. The small form of Icpi floating nearby, protectively curling around his head like a mantle. The sketch is mainly heavily shaded, but there’s one small singular light source shining on Sardaq, the three stars of Lliira.
And well, Sardaq had known my mum pretty well and so I had a full name for her now. Jeziah Miller (formally Jeziah Agarch-Dyrr). She had remarried after leaving her home in Menzoberranzan. At this point I couldn’t avoid it anymore, I had to suck it up and face her. How do you greet your mum that you’ve entirely forgotten about? Either way, we all turned up in Daring Heights at the Miller estate (a very fancy house indeed, lots of nice purple decor). We kinda surprised her, but there she was! My mum! Very much alive and healthy and surprised to see us. I could see there was a moment where she was scared by us arriving, but she instantly recognised me and called me ‘Loafy’. And well there was much talking and catching up we had to do. I still can’t remember things but she filled in a lot about my past. Turns out my birth Dad was less fortunate, killed because he fell in love with mum, his name was Tegorn and he was a gladiator which is really cool (and he’s where I got my teeth from, part bugbear apparently!)
But yeah, lots to catch up on with Mum, and then I’ve got to tell Dad and Auntie everything which is gonna take so long. I’d like for them all to meet up though, a nice colliding of worlds.
The final sketch is of a beautiful drow woman with long hair and fine clothing, gently smiling as she sits on a plush sofa in a ornate room which is oddly decorated with framed pictures of what can only be a kid's drawings. Toothy’s drawings from many years ago. Underneath the sketch is the name Jeziah Miller ‘Mum’.
