COPIED TEXT FROM ORIGINAL NOTE SENT TO SILVIA:
Silvia
I have found safety but it won't last long. I'll be at the Gilded Mirror for the next two days if you want to see me.

From the moment the note was shown my suspicions were raised. Through a cursory comparison of the writing on the note to what I remembered Kurtz’s writing to look like, Silvia herself informed me the method her patron tended to communicate with her has always been through their pact bond. Instead of anticipating a meeting with Kurtz, I took this as an opportunity to scope out if this was a new foe or someone sent by Glasya to make a move against the shadow dragon for his betrayal. The chance to find out which of his enemies was going to try to use his pact-bonded warlock against him was reason enough to go. But there was also the opportunity to ascertain any more pertinent information about him, and to ensure Silvia did not come to harm as after all that has happened so far she is like a sister to me.
Upon arrival at the Gilded Mirror, it was agreed to scope out the establishment to see if Kurtz was in fact there. Whilst taking stock of the room, I came across Vandree who was enjoying a spot of gambling. Knowing full well he would not want to miss an opportunity to weave his web around the situation, and since he is well apprised of the situation, I informed him of what we were doing there and asked for his assistance.
Scanning that evening’s crowd proved easy with Vandree filling in when each group or singular patron who was in the room. None appeared to be Kurtz from what we could tell though. Silvia, Fogwalker and Castiron proceeded to enter the building, selecting a table and ordering a round of drinks. Choosing to stay hidden by the Shadows, I was able to observe that none of the patrons in the establishment had a reaction to Silvia’s being there, which only served to make my suspicions rise.
When the server, whose name we found out later was Jonathan, came by to take the group’s order, it was noted by Fog and myself right away that the dwarven server seemed to know Silvia, but not in a way that encouraged one to think it was Kurtz in disguise. Suspicious how he was behaving, after taking the table’s order the dwarf made a run for it, possibly expecting or checking to see if he was being followed (NB: He was, by Vandree’s familiar Velve, though Jonathan was not aware of this.) With the help of the Shadows, I pursued the possible informant/enemy plant.
It was nearly an ambush I walked into. The dwarf was in fact working with a coterie of abishai – both green and black, whom we later found out are servants of Tiamat. One could safely assume something was said along the lines of, “Kurtz’s pact-bonded mage is in the Mirror but they didn’t follow me. I tried to do what you asked,” etc., the abishai swiftly killed the dwarf. Upon seeing that, I informed the others what was about to happen and then just like night follows day, darkness descended upon me and a fight against the fiends happened.
Their goal was to draw Kurtz out by hurting Silvia, which worked because he did come to her aid. Before the confrontation ended, the last remaining abishai passed on a warning to Kurtz before they slew themselves and returned to the Nine Hells: “Tiamat is displeased that you have strayed from your path. Continue to stray and we will kill your friends.”
If it’s not one archdevil, it’s another.
Further discussions were had with Kurtz both as a group and individually. Discussion outlined in bullet points Appendix A (group) and Appendix B (solo) of this report.
Report passed on 2 day of the Claw of Sunsets.
