Friends of the Ettin, Adventurers of Daring heights.
The fort to the north, brought here by the twilight, garrisoned by the troops of daring has been lost. And hopefully soon, destroyed.
Commander Thundercog, our gnomish master at arms, asked for aid after reports stopped coming from the northern fort. A pair of half orcs, Turoch, known to some, Uglok, whom I have not seen before, a couple of humans, a mage and a holy warrior, doom bar the dwarf, a halfling going by the name Big Jax and I answered the call.
Riding north our carriage was ambushed by some wolf riding goblins, the wolves were fell creatures whose breath was ice, one of the goblins escaped heading north east. Take care traveling the forests friends, the goblins are no danger but their lupine allies are terrible.
Upon reaching the fort we discovered a delicate situation. The garrison charmed by a Fae creature of the forest, by the name of Rowan. Rowan claims the island, and it’s fortress belong to the forest, and the immortal dryad claims protector-ship of the arboreal realm. Seeing the fortress as an invader she has begun work dismantling the abomination. Charming those susceptible to Fae influence to help.
I would be remiss at this point not to praise lieutenant Polaris, commander of the garrison for her unwavering dedication, immune to the dryads influence, she refused to abandon her post and was locked in the dungeon.
Whilst we were there, some troops, clearing the foundations, were set upon by undead, dispatching the spirits in a tough and dangerous fight we discovered the corpses of Drow coming up from the tunnels under the fortress.
Drow are a threat far worse than goblins friends, and if they have a passage to the surface two days ride from town we should be wary.
Negotiating the freedom of the troops we left the keep in the hands of the dryad Rowan, whose intent is still to destroy it and allow the island to be reclaimed by the forest.
Do not let her see Daring friends lest she see us as a similar abomination against her forest and decides we too need to be treated to roots and stone.
The Dryad mentioned that the forest was left to her care centuries ago by a being she called “the sylvan seraph” who apparently left to deal with a great threat to the south west. This may be something we need to investigate, and the Fae suggested she may have a reward for information as to the fate of this ancient “seraph”
