A letter arrives at the temple of Selune at Daring Heights addressed to "The Bitch Who I Happen to Have Developed Feelings For Who Has Up and Left In a Strop Who I Am Currently Sorely Missing Whenever She Gets Back", underneath in neater hand "to be delivered to Sorrel upon her return". Inside, for of course someone opens it out of curiosity before it reaches Sorrel's hand is a carefully written letter:
"My dearest,
First of all if the address of the letter has not already informed you of the fact that I happen to miss you and resent you just slightly for kissing me and then almost immediately ditching me. You're very lucky I happen to love you. In other news I helped a new associate today. I was in Daring Heights (looking for you I might add) when I ran into Kavel, after he let me know he had no idea where you were we came to talking. It turned out he was here on invitation of one "Private Derthaad" who had been pursuing a case for the Daring Heights City Watch and I agreed to help to keep myself busy and sane. It turns out I was part of the last step in a long line of investigations and questionings. After becoming familiar with my companions, a large dragonborn known as Anwyn and a small... individual by the name of Haimish we were informed that there were two lines to follow. One being to interrogate a hag of the nine hells and the other to go with a witness to the site of a cult's ritual practices. Again this all felt very complicated and requiring context I simply didn't have but I dedicated myself to what had become my and Anwyn's task: interrogation. Anwyn and I had gone over to the cell in question where the, at this point, young looking woman sat almost happily. I began my questioning in infernal but it quickly became apparent this hag was not a fan of the nine hells and we switched to common. Apparently this hag had wanted to escape her plane of Malbolge and through the actions of this "cult" which as it turned out was fairly incompetent, she and her two sisters had come to the material plane. The two were dead but she wished to remain here for now and with some convincing of the Lieutenant on duty she was promised freedom in exchange for not causing trouble and providing follow up information, such as locations and what I have already detailed. It is at that point the two of us (that is Anwyn and I) were beset by four fiendish hounds, one of which was larger than even I. You would have been proud of how well I fought, well until I almost died that is but surprisingly Anywn appeared to have some experience in first aid, although my ribs are still bruised I think. It turns out the three smaller hounds must have simply been summons but the fourth larger one was a cult member using a shimmering red cloak. I could detail the second-hand knowledge I have of the other party's actions but I don't feel it would be necessary or appropriate but to summarise they succeeded in their goals. We split the reward and I took the cloak for my own. I have just come back from using it in fact, I spent what must have been an hour prowling around the woods that surround the fort, I must say it is enjoyable and a very fetching shade of red, I will be keeping it for the foreseeable future. I miss you Sorrel, although it has only been a couple of weeks..
Love,
Silvia."
