Who's Red-y For An Apple Heist?
This adventure was just too a-peel-ing to turn down

A notice appears around Port Ffirst
Celina spots it and immediately gets excited. An apple adventure, it’s like the notice was calling to her and a chance to go back to the magical library. Celina smiles happily and go back to her place to get ready. The next day she arrives at Root’s house close to 10am. She gets to meet Root, this is her first time meeting him and she’s delighted to see that he’s a purple skinned Tiefling. Celina learns that he’s a well-known botanist. Looking around his house, she couldn’t forget that. There were so many plants everywhere, it was amazing to look at. Celina also spotted two ‘dogs’. One looked like plants and the other looked like a tree. Root introduced them as Bessie and Bark. Celina continues to look around and notices the other people there. She spots Kelne and Anwyn petting the dogs for a few moments and then Derthaad playing fetch with them. She also spotted Kavel in the corner talking to someone she hadn’t met before. They appear to know each other. She learnt his name was Gerhard. Celina smiles at everyone and then heads over to Root to start up a conversation about all things to do with apples. They have a chat for a few moments about this and Celina is truly happy.
Eventually the topic changes to the job that’s been required of them today. He mentions he needs people to go to the Runaway Library. Celina, Kelne and Kavel mention they were there before. Root smiles pleased and is quite happy to hear that. He continues on and mentions that he heard the apples from its greenhouse had some sort of special quality to them and he wanted to study them. He asks the group if they could retrieve some of these special apples and bring them back to him. Root provides the location of the library that he heard it’s rumoured to be at this time. He says it’s parked at the lighthouse in Port Ffirst. He promises payment of 50 gold pieces if the group bring back all the apples. “Seems like an easy enough job and let’s see if there’s any extra special apples I can pocket”, Celina thinks to herself. Celina runs back to her shop after they leave Root’s house and grabs a large bag she uses for collecting apples.
She meets the group back over at the lighthouse. As she walks in she notices the large archway held up by the familiar golden tarrasques. Celina, Kelne and Kavel remember the way to get into the library, so Kelne writes the message on the wall and sure enough they were let in. As they all walk in the familiar jellyfish float around everyone’s head. Celina is beaming. She also looks around the library this time and notices there’s a lot of other people in the library. Suddenly Chonk appears and walk over to the group. He greets everyone and serves the group tea. Kelne makes an observation that Chonk doesn’t seem to remember Celina, Kavel or Kelne from the last time they were there. Kelne points this out to Chock. He remarks that he’s getting very forgetful lately. He shows everyone the map of the place again and everyone gets excited figuring out where to go in this place first. The group decide it would be best to get the apples first and then explore the other rooms if there’s time afterwards.
Everyone makes their way towards the greenhouse. Celina decides to go first since she’s super excited. She decides to go in super stealthily. Celina notices the room is quite large and is made out of glass. It looks like a proper greenhouse. The room is filled with tons of different plants. There’s such an array of colours in the room. There’s so many fruits glowing, one would question if they’re edible or not.
Anwyn is the first to notice a red cube that appears in the room. They mention it to everyone in the room. Suddenly more of the cube appear but in different colours, such as blue, yellow and purple. They move quickly through the garden towards a tree and collect all the apples from it. They are all in the insides of the cubes, which is translucent. Celina can’t see any more apples and notices these cube taking the apples they need. She curses under her breathe. Just before all the cubes disappear completely out of sight, Celina shouts over to them “Hey you have something of mine”. One of them stare at her and Celina tries to think of a way to get them to give them the apples. Celina debates whether she should she stab them and take all the apples? However she decides against it. She agrees they’re too cute, though she’ll never admit it. Thinking quickly, she takes an alternative approach and suggests playing a game of hide and seek. If her group find them they give us all the apples they have. All the cubes seem to agree to this game and happily bounce off out of sight. The group decide to split up to cover more ground. Kavel, Celina and Gerhard go south of the greenhouse and Kelne, Derthaad and Anwyn go north.
Kavel takes the lead going south. As the group are walking the vines get tougher to walk through. There’s a noise and suddenly, there’s a beast staring at the group from the bushes. It appears to be a displacer beast. It launches out and attacks Kavel. Kavel tries to hold it back but it becomes intense battle and unexpectly Kavel is down. He’s unconscious. Celina debates using her revivify spell but realises it’s not the place now. She stares at Kavel wanting to help but there’s nothing she can do. If only she could heal. Then she remembers Kelne can. She casts a quick message to alert Kelne that Kavel’s down. In order to distract the beast away from Kavel, Celina pulls out an apple and tries to get the beat to ‘fetch’ with a spell. However her spell fails and the beasts ignore her words and apple. “Stupid freakin beast”, Celina shouts angrily. Another beast soon appears, Celina and Gerhard back up. They decide to try attack these beasts but they’re tough. Celina darts toward one vine and launches at the beasts with her rapiers. She’s so focused on the beasts, it takes her a few moments to realise there’s a large shadow behind her. She quickly turns around and sees a massive giant ape looming over her. Celina screams and the ape go to swing.
The swing misses Celina and only attacks the beasts. The ape completely destroys all the beasts and Celina is left stunned. Then she remembers Kelne can turn into animals. Is this Kelne? Celina casts another quick message and confirms this is her friend. Celina finally relaxes. Derthaad and Anwyn also appear soon after looking rough. They also had to fight some other monster. Now that the beasts were down everyone rushes to Kavel. Kelne heals Kavel and he wakes up in a burst. “Where are they?” he roars. Celina explains to Kavel that he went down and that it’s alright the beasts are gone now. Then Celina asks the other if they saw any cubes? No one seem to have found any, so the full group go looking for some again. This time they manage to find one. They seem to be scared with all the fighting that happened. Kavel uses speak with animals and tries to communicate with the cubes. Celina goes beside Kavel and tells Kavel to suggest to the cubes that they should do a trade. Celina can give the cubes her apples in exchange for the shiny apples they have.
The cubes were so happy with everything and also were apple seeing Celina’s apple. They had never seen a non-shiny one before. They happily agree. They hand over 12 iridescent apples and Celina gives them the normal apples. Celina stares at the iridescent apples. She has never seen an apple like this before it’s so beautiful and mesmerising, she gets transfixed for a moment. Suddenly, the thought of keeping one pops into her head. She quickly gives into the idea and uses her invisible mage hand to sneak one of these apples into her pocket. Surely, 11 apples for Root is more than enough.
The group leave the greenhouse and bump into Chonk again. He mentions that there would only be enough time to go to one more room. Celina immediately starts chanting “Game Room”. Anwyn joins in with Celina and the two of them continue chanting until everyone joins in with the chant. Derthaad was the last to join in but eventually he agreed to go to the Game Room. The group make their way to the game room and enter. As the door shuts, a hologram message immediately floats in the air.
Celina gets super excited and looking around the room it would appear three teams of two people were needed. The teams paired off. Kelne and Kavel on the Yellow team, Celina and Gerhard on the Red Team and Derthaad and Anwyn on the Blue Team. The game starts and it appeared that only one person on each team needed to pull a random card from some strange deck each round. However it quickly became clear as the cards got pulled that’s strange things would happen with each card drawn. Kelne got a new friend joining them, Gerhard started acting strange towards Celina and Derthaad ended up with no clothes on. He was just standing there naked. Celina whistled to him and laughed. All the teams slowly had people going down and there wasn’t many left. Kavel went down. Gerhard went down before Celina. Celina shouts to him she would win it for them. However on Celina’s turn to pull a card, suddenly she found herself floating in the air encapsulated in a floating sphere she couldn’t escape. The red team were out. Celina curses to herself and can only stay there watching from the distance. It was down between the yellow and blue team. Kelne managed to make it to the end and win it for the yellow team. Kavel suddenly appears again beside Kelne at the end and two tankards appear in front of them. As they grab the tankards, the door opens and everyone appears back to normal outside the doors of the game room. Everyone looks around at each other, wondering did all that just happen. Eventually they all laugh and smile. The second bells to the library ring and Chonk appears to usher everyone to the exit. Everyone leaves, says goodbye to Chonk and makes their way back to Root’s house.
As the group arrive back to Root’s house, Kavel hands over the apple bag and mentions there’s 11 apples here. He could have sworn there were 12 but maybe there was a mix up when swapping apples. Celina happily agrees to this but she trips over with her lie and something about what she says makes Root suspicious of Celina. However he says nothing. He pays everyone 50 gold pieces as promised and everyone parts ways.
Celina gets back to her place and once out of view, she pulls out her apple she pocketed and smiles. “Sure, Root won’t mind one apple missing”, Celina thinks happily. Celina places the apple on her desk and smiles at it happily. However, as the day progresses, every time she looks at the shiny apple, she can hear a displeased voice in her head “This was not yours to take...”. Celina quickly dismisses the thought. However, more time passes and days go by. The voices get louder each time she looks at this apple. More words come to her mind when looking at it: “Thief...”, “Bring it back....”, “It was your job to bring all the apples”. The words get louder in Celina’s head and they refuse to go quiet until eventually, she snaps. Celina is confused as she’s stolen many things before but this is the first time she’s felt any guilt. “We feel guilty over a freakin apple?”, Celina argues angrily with herself. She stares at the beautiful apple, focusing all her thoughts. After some time, she curses loudly, grabs the apple and walks towards Root’s house in a bad mood.
The walkover calms her down somewhat. However, she starts to panic about what she’s going to say, eventually deciding she’s going to wing it. She gets to the door, rings the doorbell and waits for an answer.

After coming back from Root’s house, Celina sees a small parcel that arrives at her shop, Appley Ever After. After opening the package Celina finds a silver wedding band, a coin purse — containing fifty gold pieces — and a note written in an elegant hand.
Celina opens the package and sees the ring. She looks pale in the face and feels a pang of regret. She quickly packs up her things, grabs the ring, the coin purse and rushes out the door of her place in order to go find Sammy and finally speak to him.

I've been informed that the so-called Runaway Library contains, among other treasures and secrets, some interesting representatives of the genus Malus Domestica. If there are fellow apple fanciers among you, perhaps they will be up for a trip to the Library to investigate?

He asked me to give the ring back to you. He also gave me this purse — I assume this was the reward he was offering for information about you. I thought it best to leave it with you.
