Payback's A Witch...
or maybe three old hags

Celina arrives early to Drovers’ Yard as instructed by the latest job. Carts and carriages are coming and going. There’s lots of noise, people shouting in the area. Celina looks around and spots some familiar faces. She sees Kavel, Kelne, Dwirhian, Derthaad and Tayz who she’s met many times. As Celia is walking towards the group, she reaches into her bag and pulls out her hat of vermin. She grins, looks toward Derthaad and pulls out a mouse. You want a hat?” she says with a wide grin. Knowing full well there’s no way she’d actually give the hat away. I’ll pass”, Derthaad replies back. Kelne spots Celina and walks over and says hello. Celina smiles at her friend and holds out her hand. “You want this mouse?” Celina asks. “No thanks”, Kelne declines politely. Celina gets disappointed and thinks to herself, “Tough crowd today… tough crowd”.
Suddenly, a woman emerges from the dust of the yard. She’s a human in her 20s, wearing a modest and practical outfit, but with a nice scarf. Her hair is in a simple yet elegant hair do. She introduces herself as Hecate Weathervane. She asks if the group we are all here for the job, to which everyone agrees. She then tells the group to follow her.
She begins to talk about OMTC. She explains OMTC stands for the Olem-Murnelvar Trading Company. Biggest exporters of Sunset Stone. Business is booming. They have issues with some bandits and she lost a cart. She doesn’t want it happen again. So she wants the group to escort her to help deal with potential bandits. She also mentions there’s a lot of flammable stuff in the cargo. “Probably not so dangerous, right?”, Celina thinks to herself. No one has any further questions so everyone gets ready to go. Hecate leads he group to the carts. There’s three carts and Hecate introduces everyone to her sisters, Irene and Jocaste. The group agrees it’s probably best to have some people riding in each cart. So Celina decides to go in the first cart and Kelne joins. Tayz and Dwirhian go in the middle cart and Derhaad and Kavel take the last one.
The group set off and it’s a long journey. Celina gets bored and nudges at Kelne to play a game. She sneakily picks some flowers from the ground with her invisible mage hand and starts to place them in Hecate’s hair. Celina wants to see how many they can get away with placing before Hecate notices. Kelne and Celina do this for some time. They do a good job, Hecate doesn’t notice for a while. But eventually there’s a lot of flowers. Hecate looks over to Celina, she grins and winks at her. Celina laughs and stops adding flowers.
After travelling for a while, a house appears in the distance. It’s a sort of a half-way house. The letter OMTC are on the front of the building. The group sop outside the house and stop. Hecate goes and gets food for the whole party. Celina and Kelne notice there’s a bar in the place, so they head there and order a lots of drinks. There’s not a great selection but they get what they can. The others walk around and check out the place. Eventually they all get back on to the carts and take off again.
As it starts getting quite dark, they come across a place called Lovers Rock. The group decide to set up camp for the night. They decide to take up watch for the night and do it in pairs. Celina decides to pair up Tayz and take the first watch. She hadn’t heard from him since she asked for his help with a special task. She was hoping since they’re alone maybe he’d tell her then. However Celina gets distracted and forgets to ask him about it, maybe something to do with the booze? She then starts to mess with Tayz. As he starts walking and around looking, Celina would occasionally use her spell ‘message’ to whisper “Boo” to freak him out. After a few goes of this, Celina laughs and mentions to Tayz it was her the whole time. Tayz walks over to Celina and casts a spell which makes Celina sober up. Also unknown to Celina, Tayz slips a flier about something into her pocket. Celina get upset with sobering up, she walks over to Kelne and wakes them up. She says “I’m no longer drunk so this is boring, I’m going to sleep now”. Tayz wakes up Derthaad. Derthaad casts a spell unknown to Celina and whispers “Sammy sends his regards” into her head. Celina sits there stunned for a moment and finds it extra hard to get to sleep. She tosses and turns for a while afterwards, trying to get comfortable but eventually she falls asleep.
The next morning, everyone wakes up and it would appear nothing happened during the night. A plaque was found during the night. Celina recognises the writing but can’t place how she knows it. The group take off and continue on their journey. They travel along a hilly road for about 30 minutes when suddenly archers appear from the sides of the road and ahead has a lot of people. Celina tells Kelne that they should attack. Celina throws an apple with her ‘catapult’ spell and then launches her dancing rapier and sends it forward to stab the archer on the road. She does a lot of damage but he stays standing. A massive attacks takes place. Kelne even turns into an giant ape at one point.
Celina spots one of the carts on fire and shouts to everyone that it’s going to blow. She darts of the way. She dodges past arrows at her and she manages to take down the archer attacking her. Celina starts attacking the next archer. Kavel comes and joins her.
Suddenly Dwirihian shouts out “Okay everybody stop and tell me what the fuck’s going on or I’m gonna start punching people”. Everyone listens and stops for a moment. It turns out Dwirihian knows one of the bandits attacking and is trying to work something out.
But before anything else happens, the sisters hiss and start to transform into hags. They then start attacking the group. Celina attempts to talk to Hecate. “I don’t give a shit who you are, you hired us for a job and now we’re doing the job, I even made you a flower crown, why are you attacking us now?”. Hecate cackles “You are charming but we care little for the Dawnlands. We have our own life to think about.” Celina realising there’s no talking to the sisters sighs and says “Okay, I’m stabbing you now”. She launches her dancing rapier at Hecate but it unfortunately misses. Everyone starts attacking the hags, even the bandits. Celina weaves through the bandits and takes another stab at Hecate, shouting “Who’s going to pay us then? Where’s my money?”. Hecate laughs again and replies “Good to see someone has their priorities right”. Kavel comes beside Celina and starts attacking Hecate. He turns to Celina shouting back as well “I don’t know who’s paying us”. The two sisters get killed and only Hecate remains.
A person comes from the shadows and casts ‘Hold Person’ on Hecate. It turns out this person is Tiny Tim. He mentions it’s his gang and they’re only trying to help attack people they think is dangerous. Celina remembers the name Tiny Tim. The person they were to go check on, on one of her jobs. Dwirihian knocks out Hecate and she goes unconscious.
Tiny Tim and his group guide the whole group to Stoneleaf. It turns out the cargo in the wagons was real and has genuinely been bought by people in Stoneleaf. The group deliver it and get paid for the delivery.
Everyone pleased with themselves they say goodbye and everyone parts ways. As Celina leaves she puts her hands into her pocket to keep warm, when suddenly she notices a note. She pulls it out and sees the following along with a hand drawn picture of Celina:
Celina realises this must have been from Tayz. She smiles happily for a moment reading the note over and over again. She is secretly pleased with the picture of her, she looked rather good in it despite it being from memory. Sammy still cares. Should she go talk to Sammy now? Then suddenly she gets hit with another notion and realises how bad this must be if anyone saw this, especially the people she’s hiding from. Surely Sammy wouldn’t post this everywhere? She decides it’s best to keep her head down for a bit and ignore this for now.
She’ll talk to Sammy one day. Maybe today isn’t the best day for that…
