Two glasses clink together softly, the resonant sound echoing around the dark, smoky hall more beautiful than an angels’ choir - a contrast between sight and sound.
“How… deliciously unfortunate.”
“Oh very much so. A conman as lucky as Langston Farstep being betrayed at the last moment at the eve of his triumph? Misfortune indeed, my dear Beshaba.”
“Most enjoyable. And did you enjoy seeing the rise and fall of a new god once again, old friend?”
“Why yes,” said Cyric. “I really rather did you know. I knew keeping an eye on those adventurers would be worth my while.”
“A delightful day all round, I’d say,” replied Beshaba, and clinked their glasses again as they looked on. It was a good day for the deities of Murder and Misfortune.
