Jacinta Montajay, Igrainne (RETIRED), and 2 more like this

Well, I want to start off this entry by saying the Flower Dragon Scouts day out was a success! The kids had a wonderful time. We even went places I didn’t expect, but that’s kinda part of daily adventuring life here.
But let me start from the beginning. Jacinta had mentioned to the scouts this wondrous Flower Dragon, one of life and peace that breaths flowers of all things. Now I’m sure I saw this dragon mentioned in the texts somewhere, but the details are quite absent from said texts.
Even so, the opportunity for a field trip to track down this dragon (whether they were really real or not) was too tempting, so the date was set and granola bars were prepared. Jasper was absolutely thrilled for them all, wearing his Flower Dragon scout patch all constantly, it was lovely to see.
And I thought the flower dragon was only a rumour, an old tale, but the Lady of Sorrows gave a seed to plant that would apparently get us closer. She seemed to wholeheartedly believe the Flower Dragon was real.
So myself, Jacinta, Jasper and the scouts gathered at the flower field to wait for anyone else who wanted to come on our field trip. Taff turned up with all her daughters in tow, including Idari who I’ve not met before! And Igrainne came along too, bringing Octavia who was very happy with the spider blooms from the field. We were quite the group, and I think very well suited to give the scouts a great day out.
So I planted the seed and from it grew a portal of vines! The Lady of Sorrows informed us that again, the Flower Dragon was real and that she was in the Spring Court. I was a little uncertain about taking the scouts to a whole nother Plane, but Jacinta said their parents had signed ‘permission slips’ which meant it should be okay, and the Lady didn’t seem like she wanted to lead us to a nefarious place.
So through we all went and arrived in a place of mushroom forests, cinnabon smells, and happy giggling nearby. Going towards the giggling we found another scout group. This one consisted of little fey and their group leader (dressed in a lovely green leaf dress) who were very excited to see us there, they called themselves Queen Tylba’s scouts.
And well it took me a moment, but I soon realised that the group leader I was talking to was in fact Queen Tylba herself (her crown was hidden a bit in her hair to be fair). She was so different to the other Fey royalty I met, so very homely and down to earth, she’d even baked cookies for everyone. I was quite honestly very pleasantly surprised, I think she’s my favourite fey monarch so far.
But she asked if we were here to see Petunia as well, which is the very real Flower Dragon’s name, and well of course we were and quickly she announced there was to be a friendly competition between ourselves and her scouts to find where Petunia was.
And then we were off! We went in separate groups, Jasper and myself taking Rollo, Hackniss and Nellie through the woods. On the way we even managed to fix a very small blue fey’s dress with flowers so she could still go to her party later.
It seemed we had all been paying attention in our scouting lessons, as all the Flower Dragon scouts converged on this one small walled settlement. A very angry lady with antlers for a hat, and rune of Tiamat on her forehead, was banging on the closed door. We tried to ask what was going on, but she kept on insisting Petunia was a traitor and then turned into a fire elemental as we approached! I was having absolutely none of that.
Jasper escorted the kids to a safe distance and we held back this lady and her rotted wood summons. A fire elemental in a forest?! I was truly terrified, and certainly kept my distance from all that fire, but then my friends were getting set on fire! Eventually we managed to get her to drop that form, and then she just kinda portaled out of there. I think Taff had some words with her, but I was too far away to hear, something stern I’m sure.
Then the doors to the settlement swung open to reveal a small and older woman standing there, her mouth full of something? She looked like she was about to join in, but she ended up spitting out a bunch of seeds into the air. And get this, they turned into flowers mid air! Showered upon the ground around her, and most of those flowers I had no clue what they were. No clue, and I feel like I know quite a few flowers too.
But it looked like we had actually found the Flower Dragon, Petunia, and the little settlement she called home. The scouts were very excited to have finally found her, and the flaming druid situation was quickly forgotten. You’d be glad to hear the scouts even got officially recognised by the legendary Flower Dragon herself. A great day for everyone.
As we started to sit down at the campfire, Petunia making tea for us, Queen Tylba and her scouts then showed up as well. They seemed a little upset to have gotten there after us, but they also forgot their troubles once they joined in the fun. And my, what an afternoon it was, plenty of tea, snacks and good conversations were had.
Petunia did pull me to the side at one point, and she showed me her past. A past of a red dragon who eventually turned away from the destruction of fire, towards the peace of flowers. I was… surprised to see that from someone so calm and peaceful. She looked me dead in the eyes, full of sincerity, and said that even troubled pasts can be redeemed. I guess she was hinting quite strongly at something...
When we eventually had to leave, though difficult after such a pleasant day, Petunia gave us all these little seeds, they all looked slightly different and unlike anything I’ve seen. Well Petunia said to plant them at home, and I trusted her about planting weird seeds, so I did it and from each seed items grew in seconds! I got these Buttercup Bracers to wear, now the flowers can protect me.
When we got back Jacinta and I also had a little conversation, we’re thinking of a sort of commemoration of this day. The day the Dragon Scouts went out and actually did what we were unsure could be accomplished. The day they found the Flower Dragon. We were thinking a summer festival of sorts, with mini dragons made of flowers and cookout dinners round a big campfire.
The Day of the Flower Dragon. It has a nice ring to it I think.
Much Love,
