Bored. BORED.
Arkadius threw a fire bolt at a bucket, hitting it squarely. It was clear to everyone who might see him, Arkadius was bored. Without the paperwork of FfirstGroup to deal with, his evenings were a little emptier than they were before. While he kept the company of Kruxeral during the day, he needed a new distraction during the evenings before he could set off for Fort Ettin with Merla later in the week... And this night, after throwing fire at a bucket and having to clear up the consequences of that action, he decided to get out of his room for an hour or two, sick of staring at the same four walls. On his walk around the city, he had come across the door to the Fair Winds, and memories came back to his head. He smiled for a moment, before something or someone tapped him on the shoulder. He twirled around quickly, barely able to stand up straight and his lyre hitting his hip as he moved. When he looked, he saw... nothing.
Arkadius. I want to hear you play music again, came Ida's voice in his head. Arkadius sighed, looking at his shoulder, noticing Ida sat there preening her fur smugly, now a resplendant amber-colour rather than the dark black that she used to be. He smiled at her, giving her a scratch on her head. "And I... would like to sing once more. Okay, fine. Let me see who's on tonight..." he said quietly as he stepped towards the door, hand reaced out to open it. As the door swung open ahead of him, he had expected some music to flow on outwards, but instead he just heard... the usual clinking and clanking of a drinking establishment. He smiled again, Alright, looks like you might get your wish little one.
A quick conversation with the barstaff later, and Arkadius had his shot. The stage was his. He stepped up, and bowed to those mingling there. "Good evening, fine folk of Daring Heights and the surrounding area! Greetings to those visiting this fine city and it's lands... and to my friends, I say... why are you not out there fighting and questing? Come ooooonnnnnn..." He grins, as he waved his hands about gesturing wildly, chuckling to himself. "Tonight, I Arkadius Hogg, make a surprise return to the Daring musical circuit, and I bring with me... a new composition that I have been working on for a while, for a close friend friend of mine. Alas, it is currently unnamed... but I have a few ideas sparked by new developments over the last few months." Arkadius' fingers flexed, resting in position on his lyre and prepared to play...
originally sung by Angela Lansbury from the Disney movie of the same name...
Also, if you'd like to hear the song on an ACTUAL lyre, here's an awesome YouTube video.]
Tale as old as time, true as it can be,
Barely even foes, then there is a bow, unexpectedly...
Just a little shot, harmless to say the least,
both a little smug, neither counterstruck,
The Winged One and his Love...
Ever self-assured, ever unmatured,
ever a mystery, ever exemplary,
as the sun will rise...
[Instrumental section]
Tale as old as time, tune as old as song,
bittersweet and strange, finding you can change
learning you're in love!
Certain as the sun, rising in the east,
Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme,
The Winged One and his Love...
