The sound of metal tapping on glass pulls Alenea’s attention away from the book in front of her, a clockwork bird trying to get her attention from within its terrarium. She waves a hand at it and drops a few cogs into the box for it to play with. “Shush. I’m busy.”
She looks back down at the fist-sized sunflower seed she stole from the feywild. The long hairs along its side waving in the springtime breeze wafting in through the open window. She picks up the seed and places it snuggly in the pot she’s prepared. The feysoil in the pot alive with tiny speckles of light as she buries it. Tapping the soil down over the seed she flicks the page over in the book she brought back from Daring and reads the next step. (*Fey Plants & You* by Montigue Brown) “Okay so now water it in.” She says to herself as she pours water over the soil from a small watering can. “And onto the windowsill with you. Lots of sun.”
She sits back in her chair and closes her eyes while the sunlight streaming into the room warms her face and the smell of soil fills the room. “Maybe BB has the right idea. This is nice.”

Growth Log Week 1
The seed has taken root and sprouted far faster than I expected, the feysoil and frequent watering has done the trick. The books said they grew fast but this is far faster than I expected as the stalk is nearly a meter tall already. The lack of sun from the feywild has not seemed to have a negative impact.
Read the last chapters of Ten Thousand Dungeons to the seedling.
Current height: 95cm.
Growth Log Week 2
Growth continues at an incredible rate. The stalk no longer fits in the room with the flower head pressing against the ceiling.
There is a drawing of a large sunflower bending over as it presses against a ceiling.
The flower is about the size of a lamb now. Keri has taken to perching on it, she says she likes the warmth.
I swear I've seen movement, hopefully it is growing healthily. I've been reading Gates of Heroism to Sunny, it just came in from the Sword Coast.
Current height: 215cm.
Growth Log Week 3
The soldier has gone! The flower has popped open and the warrior has left. At first I thought it was a message from Daring but no, the warrior has hatched. I've cleaned up and need to assess damage to the clockwork mouse to be sure it is okay. Then will go hunting warrior. It has not been around its siblings from the Summer Court so it shouldn't be violent.
Final height: 225cm.
---
Alenea sits back and places down her quill before closing the diary and slipping it into the hidden drawer of her desk.
Then she pulls the damaged mouse from its case and leans forward, magnifying glass screwed into one eye, green hair tied up in a ponytail to assess the damage.
Before she can finish there is a knock on the door.
"Housekeeping!"

Sunflower Warrior Notes Cont.
Sunny is violent despite being raised away from other Sunflower Warriors. I had hoped it was upbringing. Titania must have bred them to be inherently vicious. After escaping he stole a sword from the Fort armoury and did Corellon knows what with it. I have managed to catch him and bring him back safely with the help of some people new to the fort. I don't know what to do with him. I can't kill him like the others in the fields. I can't do that to Sunny.
I'm going to try and befriend him.

Coll has agreed to overlook things but I don't think I can hold the sock stealing over him anymore. Sunny is locked up at the Fort after their rampage. I'm going to attempt to befriend Sunny and help them see that they can be happy at the Fort.
Befriending Sunny Attempt 1
I prepared whatever I could think of for befriending a plant. I've obtained some more smaller non-sentient potted plants to put in their room. I've brought their large pot filled with fey soil (I removed the dead sunflower). I've asked some people around the Fort to help me get them inside Sunny's cell without them getting out and then spend any time I have reading to them and speaking to them. Just trying to get through.
Results
Sunny did not respond well. The potted plants were ignored and the pot made no difference. Just like when I tried to get them back with my book they hissed when I tried to read to them. I don't think they like the books. I'm going to try and improve the sunlight into their room next.
