Rolled into a forearm sized tube is a piece of nondescript parchment around a notice from the Adventure Board in Fort Ettin, a page of copied notes from a journal, and a small sample of mushroom preserved in a small box. The parchment is written in a mix of common, symbols, and elvish.
ASSIGNMENT REPORT #3
People/Organisations of Note:
Veridian – mage, human, male
Osborin – verse-maker, half elf (aquatic), male
Ruk – mage, elf (undetermined), male
Cyclone – spar velah’rnair, genasi, female
Mattie – DH council page, human, male
Kwaptarr – translator, bullywug, male
Greloman – lead hunter/warrior, bullywug, male
Norbert Dewfort – ambassador to bullywug people, halfling, male
Taddern – his royal moistness, ruler of the bullywugs, bullywug, male
Mushroom Troll – infected monster, troll, deceased
Locations:
Fort Ettin – living location, home base for adventurers
Frog Bog – swamp, bullywug and grung territory
Body:
Met at appointed time but left waiting for Kwaptarr who did not show. Young human man from Daring Heights, Mattie, arrived carrying a satchel of clothes, writing supplies and a bottle of wine. This was to be for Norbert Dewfort. Mattie kept our company for a time, as we continued to wait for Kwaptarr. Asked Veridian if he knew where to go in the Frog Bog. Despite having been there numerous times he was very vague in directions. The verse-maker ended up finding the directions we needed in order to set off. Mattie returned to DH.
Travelled for less than a turn into the bog before finding Kwaptarr. Bullywug was covered in poisonous mushrooms growing from his skin. Breathing ragged, pain apparent. Osborin cured the poison/disease and mushrooms fell off instantly. Gathered samples for possible poison decisions to make in the future. See sample in box.
Lead to bullywug village. Rust coloured mould covering everything – buildings, swamp, trees, etc. to the point of inhospilability. Villagers in the midst of evacuating, many of them with mushrooms growing from their skin to varying degrees. Kwaptarr and the village’s warrior, Greloman, explain how the mushrooms and mould came to their home: Greloman went on a hunt and brought back a crocodile covered in mushrooms as food for the village. After eating it, some of their people got sick and died. Then, plant creatures rose from their bodies. No matter how many times they were killed they kept rising again and again.
This was part one of our mission: Deal with the plant creatures the bullywugs had trapped in one of their buildings whilst they continue evacuating their people. Simple.
Veridian, through use of fire magic, and Ruk, by summoning a gigantic hand, together surrounded the hut and trapped the creatures inside so they had nowhere to run.
It was a lovely bonfire, almost as big as the ones lit on Forever Night.
Afterwards, lead to relocated village to meet Taddern, his Royal Moistness as Norbert called him. Was rewarded for the job two of the five of us did in gold. Offered a horrendous stew that would have been insulting not to eat. Trick of the hand to toss the contents away whilst appearing to eat it. No offense given.
Norbert, Taddern, Kwaptarr, Greloman discuss and debate the next part of the mission. Three options presented to us:
Chose the second option.
Greloman led us to gigantic tracks of a bipedal creature in the bog. Traced it’s steps to a combined camp, one old, made by humans, the other, the creature’s. Check the bodies, some covered in mushrooms, others have holes in their chests. Verse-maker found a journal. It details experiments the humans ran, trying to create creatures that can be used as a military force by use of mushroom and plant strains. Head alchemist found a particular strain of mould. They journeyed from Faerun to Kantas where a series of trials and experiments were set up, resulting in infection of assistants and then death of all involved.
See attached notes for further details from the journal, including a sketch of the mould and mushrooms.
Nearly ambushed by a giant troll creature, enraged and maddened by the infection of mushrooms within its body. Combined forces with Cyclone with melee attacks whilst Veridian and Ruk provided magical support through use of fire and animated ball bearings. Osborin, transformed into a giant ape, attempted to hurl debris at the creature, unsuccessfully. (NB: He is not a true representation of all verse-makers heard of in these lands. However, it does make one wonder if they all are as tactfully useless in a fight.)
Troll eventually eliminated through combined efforts from all in the party.
During the fight got infected by poisonous porous mushrooms but was healed immediately by Osborin.
Further reward given by Taddern and declared honorary bullywugs through gifting of simple leather necklaces. They are simple people, but very proud of their customs. Seems the Dawnlanders have made great progress with making them their allies.
Begun training of a small cat. Recognises home, knows how to stop, move, sit and lie down upon command. Continuing training this week of carrying and delivery of small items. Will see how well it can manage that before making use of skill to send reports to drop off point. For now, normal methods of delivery continue to be employed.
Report passed on 12 day of The Claw of Winter.
Neh diis lus’a, lus diis’a.
Assistance is requested as soon as possible please!
The hunters have brought something back and now a red, rust like mould is spreading everywhere and small creatures keep coming from it that won't stay down. We’ve managed to contain them for now but it’s spreading fast!
Please help! Meet Kwaptarr at Fort Ettin for an Escort out to the Bullywug village.

Norbert, Taddern, Kwaptarr, Greloman discuss and debate the next part of the mission. Three options presented to us:
- Concentrate on helping the bullywugs rebuild their home
- Hunt down a very large creature Greloman said he saw – possible source of the mould and mushrooms
- Ask the grung where the mould is from
Chose the second option.
