Candlelights - Veridian - 23/12/2020

After the long walk from Daring Heights to Fort Ettin and having to sit around for a little trying to figure out how he gets himself signed up to move in the fort, Veridian decided that a trip the spa would be absolutely what he needed.
Once he had made it to the lounge he found that he was not the only one to have this idea, there he found some new adventurers; Seraphina, Bones, Gilbaron, Wee mad Hamish was there whom he hadn’t seen in quite some time and of course Jaezred.
After yet more waiting and collecting some drinks from the bar upstairs, a friendly Minotaur appeared grant them entrance, with Veridian and Gilbaron being the only ones to show interest in moving into the fort they where allowed to have two more as free guests. Veridian decided that it was best to allow Jaezred to be his guest otherwise the overinflated ego might start moaning if he had to actually pay.
The Minotaur then showed the group into the spa itself, explaining about the showers and the pools etc. The group was then “treated” to the sight of Hamish immediately removing the little clothing that he was wearing.
Once veridian quickly showered he found a nice pool in the corner by himself and started to work his magic, coursing the water to faintly glow different colours, the surrounding candles to do the same, a lovely herbal scent to fill the air and some gentle music to play around him.
However this lovely zen that veridian made for himself was very quickly dashed away from him with Hamish singing loudly about something, then the introduction of some kind of flute appearing from behind another set of glass doors veridian hadn’t initially seen. Hamish and Gilbaron where the first to investigate this new room and disappeared behind the doors for what veridian felt like was far too short of a time, then emerged with Hamish shouting something about herbs and mushrooms and Gilbaron looking like he had seen some great horror. Once these to retool their places in the pools the strange dragon-bird hybrid called Bones entered the room and almost immediately walked back out ranting about some kind of beach.
Jaezred was next to investigate this room and veridian though to himself that he might as well take a look seeing as the mood he was trying to create was completely ruined. Following Jaezred into the room veridian was greeted by a lovely marble floor room with a tunic who appeared to be the source of the flute. Suddenly this room was swept after to be replaced by a beautiful beach with the same tunic simply floating there, veridian did note that though Jaezred walked into the room before him he was nowhere to be seen.
This tunic then asked veridian what experience he was after and explained that a long list of activities where available to choose from and immediately presented two of them, some kind of herb that would help remember forgotten memories or a labyrinth that allowed for some soul searching. Veridian picked the labyrinth seeing has he’s already taken quite the list of mind altering materials, he wanted something new.
Suddenly the beach scene was taken away form him and he was thrust into an ethereal space. As veridian started to walk forward he seemingly began to think about his plans and desires in life, occasionally veridian would walk into some sort of wall forcing some strange image to force its way into his mind. Finally this image came into to full view and veridian was pulled in the scene.
Veridian sat in a peculiar classroom surrounded by other students he wasn’t sure he recognised. From the front of the classroom veridian started to hear strange noises, looking up he saw a very unusual sight, a floating rotund creature with a large singular eye, a large mouth filled with incredibly sharp and tentacles that seem to have more eye at the end of them. This creature appeared to be the teacher of this classroom and spoke in a language veridian had never heard before, then looked directly at veridian, and quickly so did the rest of the class, confused veridian didn’t know what to say and only managed to sputter a few words before the everyone began laughing at him.
Suddenly veridian was back in the labyrinth with the scene of the classroom projected on the wall informer of him, them a voice
“Why do you care?” Perplexed and a little nervous veridian thought to fly over the wall and so he did, as he started to fly straight upwards he started to notice that he wasn’t moving, the labyrinth was moving around him until the wall was infront of him again, and it again asked.
“Why do you care?”
“Because I must” Veridian quietly proud that he came up with that answer.
“Why do you care?” The voice asked.
“Because it’s who I am” Veridian surprised and a little disappointed that the first didn’t work.
“Why do you care?”
“Because I do not know the answer”
With that answer veridian flew from the sky and landed on the ground, as he looked around the all he saw was a great flat expanse of nothing. He picked a direction and began walking. After a while he came across yet another wall.
“Why do you care?”
Veridian simply walked away starting to get quite annoyed at this experience. But soon walked into another wall, however before the question could be asked veridian punched the wall, strangely the wall was bouncy and though it didn’t hurt it only served to annoy veridian more.
“Why do you care?”
“I don’t know, that the hell is you want me to say!” Veridian shouted
The scene shifted once again and veridian found him back in the classroom. That strange teacher looked straight at him.
“Why must you always focus on what is in the future and what you want to accomplish, when you should focus on the present and see what is happening right in front of you.”
“Wait what”
And the vision shattered around veridian, and he was back in the marble room, he watched as Jaezred storm out of the room screaming something about how he wouldn’t stand for this and something about a leaving a bad review, as veridian left the room he heatedly interacted with anyone as he tried to process what was said, apart from Gilbaron where both seemed to recognise what each other had just experienced. Shortly after the Minotaur that lead them into the spa entered, most likely due to the noise that Jaezred had made. Veridian informed the Minotaur that perhaps some sort of notice should be put on the door as to warn people of the possible side effects of the choices.
The rest of the day seemed to go in a blur as veridian still tried to process what happened.
