“For the last time Bruce, NO!” yells Ghesh across the yard. “You can’t take her on yet, she’ll have you back at the medical tent in one hit. Right, let’s see…” He strolls through the training yard, sizing up the various people in front of him. Gradually, he points out pairs to spar with each other and they all spread out.
“Now I’m not gonna tell you how you should fight, that’s your own thing to figure out. But I am going to tell you who to fight. You lot are all new to this, you gotta learn who you can face off against and who you can’t.” he says, strolling along between the lines of fighters.
A timid voice pipes up from the far corner “b...but how can we tell who is a good match-up? I like to fight nimbly with my spear but you’ve put me against someone who is brawny and with a sword, why?”
“It’s good to fight against lotsa different people, not just ones who fight like you” he addresses them directly, “and in this case, Bruce is the best pairing for you. I’ve seen him fighting the last few weeks, you are evenly matched. Besides, it might bring him down a notch, stop challenging people he can’t take.”
Bruce opens his mouth to complain, but as Ghesh looks down at him with an eyebrow raised he shuts it again, and a Hello Kitty band aid starts to peel off his cheek. “Anyone who has a problem with their pairing, come tell me. If you think you will struggle, I’ll give you some pointers. If you think you will win easily, prove it by fighting. And we don’t want to use up all of the medical tent’s supplies, so stop when a winner is clear, alright?”
“OK, everyone...FIGHT!”
