Veridian was born in a small town called Balomir in High Forest, well less of a village and more a few houses that happen to be close together. Veridian was raised by his father Nicolas, a renowned wizard and alchemist, and his mother Ester, a brilliant alchemist and healer in her own right.
Veridian had a fun and full childhood having small adventures in High forest, learning about nature, medicine and alchemy from his parents and learning with his father the arcane ways. This happiness didn’t last forever unfortunately as when veridian was 10 his mother become gravely ill. His father worked tirelessly to find a cure but by the time he had found the ultimate cure it was too late.
After a darker period that veridian would prefer to forget, he and his father started to offer free medical aid to any and all locals, secretly offering his fathers panacea and his ability to bring back loved ones. They carried this out for many years even with the strong protests from the local clerics who seemed very annoyed that someone was not only taking the money they charged for such services but undermining the lies they had spread saying only the divine could do such things.
By the age of 20 veridian decided that he didn’t want to be known as the son of Nicolas Pentaghast but to known firstly as a powerful wizard himself and so he left his home to search for the knowledge necessary for this.
This search lead his to the city of Ravens Bluff where he joined the Wizards Guild and became more advanced training and study. After years of this he was finding his progress slow but progress non the less, until one day when he was unexpectedly attacked by an owl carrying a large red book, it took him a little while recognise but he realised that this was, at the time, his fathers familiar Nyra with his fathers spell book strapped to her. A note was placed on the book which simply said “please take care”. It was a miracle that Nyra had made it all this way but she is an exceptional owl. After reading his fathers spell book and barely understanding half of it he found a way to transfer Nyra from his father to himself. From her he understood that while he had been in regular contact with his father, some important information where left out of the letters his father sent him, mostly that for sometime he had be receiving anomalous threats to stop his work and he as any good wizard ignored them.
Veridian then left Ravens Bluff and to return home to search for his father but after two years and absolutely clue or sign he was forced to give up. All he had was two theories, one that some sort of criminal organisation had gotten wind of his fathers abilities and had taken him to exploit them or that some religious fanatics had him instead. Whilst he doesn’t care to think about either the first gives him more hope that his father is still alive.
The only idea veridian has now is to continue his fathers work and paint a similar target on his back in hopes to attract the same people that took his father, and with news reaching him of a mysterious new continent full of new places and adventures where better to build such a reputation.
