Pieni, Queen Merla, the Sun-Blessed, and 2 more like this

Toothy steps up to the front door of Lucan’s Leathers, pulling out a key from the pocket on his brand new trousers. The glass beads tied onto expensive ribbons that hold them cinched at his waist still manage to catch the light of the dimmed lantern from inside the shop, a stark contrast to the small sack held in his other hand that contains themuch more humble clothes he started the day in. He unlocks the door to be greeted by the shuffling sounds of his Dad, Lucan, who’s still working in the shop.
“Late night ey? Another day at the pits?”
The heavily scarred half-elf man inquires softly as he organises a large order of saddle straps on the main counter, accessing the quality of his work.
“No not today actually.”
Lucan grunts and half smiles.
“Then another day in the swamp and streets chatting to critters. You must have not eaten then, there’s still some leftovers upstairs you can heat up.” He jerks his head towards the back of the shop and the stairs located back there.
“Not quite that either….”
At this Lucan finally looks up properly and takes in the well dressed Toothy in front of him. From the ironed deep brown high waisted trousers, to the expensive ribbons and tassels round his waist, the bracers that are actually holding up the trousers, and eventually to the deep-v shirt dyed dark red that leaves little to the imagination.
Lucan stops his work and gives Toothy a questioning eyebrow raised high.
“It was quite the day after I saw that Ghesh lad, the adventurer I’ve chatted to from the pits? Well turns it he was with a group of other adventurers after all. But they weren’t actually running off to fight trouble, but a soiree? Sourie?”
“Fancy entertainment, but go on Toothy. Don’t get stuck on the words.”
“Right, right. Well one of their mates Sheryl was the main performer, and they were going there to see if she wanted to help them raise money for Richart’s healing tent at the new Fort. Richart is the topless one by the way.”
Lucan nods along, the shop door was wide open at the time they passed by so he caught glimpses of the group, but he doesn’t interrupt.
“And then. Oh Dad! Dad! There was this guy called Pieni, the blue bird, who could just summon puppies out of thin air! St. Bernard puppies! I mean, they were only around an hour. But it was amazing.
At this Toothy steps further into the shop, excitement making him grin wider and wider at the memory of puppy hugs.
“Hmm, now I understand the commotion earlier. What about the elk though? Was that also one of his ‘summons’.”
“No, no that was Elchior, who’s an angelic friend of Faye. The elf sitting on their antlers. Couldn’t speak to Elchior like other animals. It was odd.”
“Okay...So how did you end up in that?”
He points to the fabulously outfitted Toothy before him.
“Oh right, well we met with Sheryl. Lovely halfling lady who can play piano like a dream. And she was all for performing as a fundraiser for Richart, but if we were to do that at the Gilded Mirror it was gonna be all rich folks so we needed to spruce up. So we got herded to this shop called Height of Fashion.”
Lucan just shrugs. He’s definitely not a fashionista himself and so hasn’t heard of it.
“Kinda a whirlwind at this point. Whirlwind of clothes that we were at the centre of. Me and Richart were defo a bit lost. But the others paid for our outfits which was real nice of them, I even got this fancy new talisman.”
He points to the new gold inlaid tooth that has been recently woven into the talismans and braids in his long hair.
“But yeah. Fancy clothes. Ghesh got this suit that sparkled like a literal galaxy in candlelight. I think that summoned a galaxy bear at the party, or that was Pieni, I don’t know… But the party was a hit! It was a grand performance and Richart raised so much money he was pretty much stunned for the rest of the evening. Good lad that one.”
There’s a sparkle to Toothy’s eyes as he finally finishes his re-telling of the night’s events, a sparkle that Lucan certainly catches on to.
“It sounds like you had a great time indeed. I told you this adventuring would suit you just fine didn’t I?”
The sparkle in Toothy’s eyes dims just slightly with a new look of uncertainty.
“Well I’m still not sure you know...but I’m gonna head up now though, kinda just hit me how tired I am.”
The well-dressed drow man looks deep in thought as he makes his way upstairs and to his room. Once the shop is empty once again, Lucan slowly crosses his arms as he gives a soft smile to no one in particular he says,
“Unsure my ass. You already love this adventuring thing don’t you son.”
The smile doesn’t leave his face even as he eventually tidies away for the evening and goes upstairs himself.
