"I fucking knew it!" Wil shouted as his gear hit the floor of his room in the Cavernous Seashank with an unceremonious clunk. "You bring all these important people in one place and you think everything's just going to go smoothly? You think you can just guarantee peace and think nobody's going to have a problem with that? It's a right royal mess we've got now, ain't it just?!"
Wil looked at the perfectly sculpted ice necklace wrapped around him expectantly, but no response came.
"Hey, you've been awful quiet, what's up?" Wil's tone softened. After a few seconds, water gushed out of the pendant, writhing and spinning until it took the familiar shape of the Water Guardian, however the water was dark and foaming at the edges and her stare ice cold.
"I cannot possibly describe just how disappointed I am in you, Wil."
"...What-"
"You know what, Wil. The way you treated those people today was deplorable."
"Oh, the Shunned? Hey, I tried my fucking best given the circumstances-"
"You know that is no excuse-"
"Oh so I'm just supposed to be cool with people who tried to kill me now?!" Wil's voice rose as he began to pace the room with heavy steps. "Just sunshine and smiles, right?!"
"They didn't make attempts on your life."
"No, but the ones who did did it under the banner of the Shunned. Their banner, their problem. Don't see why I have to respect people who used the K'Ul Goran war for a cheap land grab anyway."
"They were desperate people who lost their homelands! Desperate people like-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence." Wil snarled, the guttural roar reverberating in the room, coloured with the grating tones of Deep Speech within him. "Don't you dare."
The room fell silent but the tension still lingered in the air as the two figures stared each other down, balled fists shaking and swirling waters raging. After a while however, Wil released his hands with a sigh.
"Look, we've got bigger problems now."
"You certainly do, Frozendagger."
"You." Wil's rage returned all at once. "Did you have anything to do with this?"
"Please!" The aboleth chuckled. "The Feywild holds no interest for me. It's overflow from the true Material that mutated into a horrid mess. Too much effort for not enough gain. But you still have business there, right?"
"Right, the Traverse Master, I still need to find that guy. And now that's going to be even harder now."
"Oh that? I was thinking more of the whole unstable political landscape that might verge onto war endangering the people around you."
"Don't try and spin this against me." Wil sighed. "I need to look out for my own."
"...at this point, who are 'your own'?" The Water Guardian mumbled.
