She looks around the room with indifference. The invisible staff had said this was the best they had to offer and while it certainly was better than the shared bunkhouse - and miles better than what she'd suffered during her time with the company - it was still a far cry from what she'd once taken for granted. It's fine. It'll do.
She puts away her few belongings methodically, squashing the part of her railing at the injustice of her current living standards.
Lighting a candle, she sits down at the desk and unsheathes her longsword. As night falls and darkness creeps over Fort Ettin, she patiently works the whetstone against the steel until the insignia of her company is gone. When she's done she smiles with cold satisfaction and lies down on the bed.
