Rolled into a hand sized tube is a piece of nondescript parchment. It is written in a mix of Common, symbols, and Elvish.
ASSIGNMENT REPORT #2
People/Organisations of Note:
Ghesh – fighter/barbarian, dragonborn (black), male
Taffeta – scout/wanderer, halfling, female
BB – mage, firbolg, female
Igrainne – scout/wanderer, half elf (drow), female
Faye – verse-maker/fighter[?], eladrin (winter), they
Ka’sam – “merchant”, djinn, he
Sessash – tobacco sommelier, genasi (air), they
Mavis Highrest – Daring Heights Councillor/fashion designer, triton, they
Ulsar – artisan, drow, male
Locations:
Daring Heights – town, Dawnlands
Three Headed Ettin – tavern, in DH
Djinn and Tonic – caravan/bar, demi-plane, outside of DH
Body:
Had been in the Ettin, enjoying a quiet evening dinner, listening to a black dragonborn (Ghesh) speak about how he wanted to make his weapon more powerful and unique. Interest piqued, introduced myself and proceeded to follow him and close allies – the Dawnland’s strongest mercenaries adventurers – to a caravan just outside of DH. (NB: have noticed there is a strong disparity between those that wish to be called one term vs. another. Possible disparity between these adventurers, but more on this further in report.)
Caravan owned and operated by Ka’sam, a djinn – most likely from the Plane of Air, but was not able to confirm. Were offered a VIP room by the doorman which included shisha – a type of tobacco unique to the establishment – and drinks. Sessash really knew how to mix and blend the herbs together. Better than normal cigarillos.
Offered drinks by another table, which turned out to come from Mavis, DH newest councillor. Watched a performance by the verse-makers Bheezzer Burnies – a truly magnificent performance.
When it finally came time to meet Ka’sam, the djinn made a point of saying he knows many people, enjoys making connections and he making them work; “For me and for others.” His currency is not gold; “Favours are the best currency.” Ghesh was introduced to Ulsar, who said he could do the enchantment the dragonborn wanted, but would require a favour in kind done for him. An agreement was met.
The penmanship is rougher for the last sentence of the paragraph. A drop of smeared dried blood marks the middle of the parchment. Below it, the report continues.
Have heard word of a major political event to happen in the coming days, a signing of some important documents between DH and neighbouring nations. An alliance. The Aegis Accords. Will be observing the proceedings from afar if possible. Adventurers are part of the “deal” or so it seems from gathered information. Will try to have clarification in next report. Many seem uncomfortable with being thought of as a commodity whilst they think they are independent. With the connections made so far will get a better sense of the unease.
Training has continued with some of the local “adventurers”. Gladiatorial pits the previous tenday. Training with the black dragonborn barbarian this tenday, closing. A fierce fighter, battle crazed and terrifying. Techniques barely kept me on my feet. Nose might be broken but it will heal with some ointment.
Report passed on 30 day of The Rotting.
