Searching for answers at the Gilded Mirror

Following the adventure in Deep Roots, New Leaves:
Gilbaron returns to the Gilded Mirror to speak with Bartholomew the Gnome waiter.
Gilbaron has rarely seen other Gnomes, abandoned at birth at the Temple of the reclusive Warlock order The All Sniffing Nose,
and his reason for journeying out into the world after living an isolated life in the temple, was to find answers.
The Temple was remote, at the top of a hill. The nearest settlement was a local village, Thimble which is basically a haven for travellers, once a tribe of travelling gnomes lived there but that is all Gilbaron knows about that.
Through his journeys he ended up through the Portal to Kantas and has encountered strange sights he never could have imagined before.
Bartholomew goes through his family history, and for pretty far back they all come from Kantas. He tells you about a fortress city of Vorsthold where dwarves interbred with Gnomes and various other tidbits, but it doesn't sound like anyone who cold of been his parents travelled through that same portal.
Gilbaron begins to wonder if he made a mistake travelling here and if there is anything here for him.
He pays for lodging in the local area, nothing fancy, he's used to simple pleasures and stays up late thinking.
