Taz had not even known it was possible. When the lich had raised it’s finger towards him, he had expected pain of some sort, maybe an ice bolt, or one of those spells that made you simply feel pain. But instead… there was nothing, just the gentle slip into darkness and the separation of spirit from body. Taz awoke to the sound of his friends singing and playing an upbeat sea shanty - Sheryl leading the music - and he understood what had happened. He felt a warmness, seeing his friends make music that had brought him back to them. And something felt strange about the warmness too, although he couldn’t place exactly what.
Ghesh and Ser Lytton discussed the battle on the way home, with Ser Lytton giving a somewhat cursory and unanalytical critique - Taz had hoped for better. When he finally got back in his room, he added the notes to his ever growing journal of battles and battle tactics and wrote a full analysis.

NB. I have walked on the shadowy plane again. To go, to go is not so bad. But to move constantly in between this world and that one, it is not natural. This will be the last time. Either I will learn, or I will move to the shadows.
Set Up
Allies - Sheryl, Arkadius, Sir Lytton, Bones, Wren, Kanorax, Wren, Ghesh. We are hired by the paladins of Vorst Hold to attack a lich in its lair. We plane shift in and begin combat straight away.
Battle
Combat begins immediately. We are surrounded by shadowy demons of some sort, with the lich so far back it is barely visible but very much in the field.
Analysis
We were uncoordinated. Kanorax became a dragon without any warning. We did not even know each other's abilities = sloppy. *Arkadius became a giant lizard. Must know more about this too.
The shadowy spirits were a distraction, the lich was the target. We were quickly surrounded, however, leaving us in a very suboptimal positioning on the field. Most allies are quickly engaged by the distractions and there is little communication between parties. I charged the spellcasters - first, one that was resummoned and then the Lich themselves. This was fatal, and the lich could have killed me or someone else whether I charged him or not. Did anyone know he would have such an ability or that such spells existed?
With no strategy in place to shut the spellcaster down, a death was inevitable.
Ways to avoid death:
NNB. 300gp for dealing with such a powerful enemy? Vostholdians clearly had cash. See armour below (beautiful!). Must negotiate rates better.
