The following events transpire upon Arkadius’ return to Kantas following the session ”For Every Light; A Shadow”
It was clear from the way that he stomped through the yard (almost silently thanks to the Boots of Elvenkind that he wore) that Arkadius was in the worst mood imaginable. The slamming of his office door was not quietened at all however, and the noise was enough to cause Ricton, FfirstGroup’s halfling Sorting Office Manager to poke his head outside the sorting room. Oriynor, the half-elf Desk Manager, was stood there looking rather shocked, staring at the door to Arkadius’ office.
“The boss is back, then,” Ricton asked after a few seconds of quiet. “Yep, and he’s in a bad mood,” Oriynor replied. Ricton stepped out of the doorway, and crept slowly over to the sales desks that Oriynor called her domain. He raised an eyebrow at Oriynor, a smile slowly appearing on the edges of his mouth. She responded in kind, a smile equally as wide and cheeky. They raised their hands at each other, shook them at each other for three beats, then stopped, pointing clenched hands at each other.
“Draw. You know what that means, Ric,” Oriynor whispered, her smile widening slightly, “It’s your turn, remember last time?” Ricton swore under his breath, but was interrupted by the office door opening again.
“Great. You’re both here. Oriynor, I need the charm of your sales staff. Ricton, I need the ingenuity of your sorting staff. Let’s just say… I’m really franky annoyed, there’s someone I need to demand answers from, and I lack the way to communicate to this being, so... We’re going to fix that. Come on,” Arkadius stopped talking, and walked back out into the yard.
The noise of construction work emanated from the FfirstGroup yard for the best part of the week. But after days and days of work for most of the day, it was finally done. Arkadius stepped back from the cabin that he and his team had constructed in the yard, containing what very much looked like a shrine, and smiled.
“Okay. This I can work with,” he said with a grin. Oriynor looked at him, and shrugged. “It took a lot of work to convince the team to help with this, I hope you know that. It’s going to-“
“It’ll be fine, they’ll see a healthy bonus in their paycheck this month,” Arkadius reassured his trusted sales manager with a smile and a wave of his hand, before following up under his breath, “If this works.” This served to placate Oriynor enough, who walked away back towards the main building. Arkadius turned back to the cabin that they had spent the week building, now alone in the yard.
“You owe me answers, dearest Raven Queen,” he said, his mouth forming a snarl. “You owe me answers, and I owe you service. I know how this all works, I’ve lived with this kind of deal for years. And this shrine… This should go part way to starting my service. I… I serve You, and I make You more powerful. But what makes this all different this time… What makes you different from Swan? I get something out of it. You’ll give me the answers I ask for. You will tell me what you want from Sheryl. And you’ll honour the pledge I made, and you will release her.”
Arkadius glared at the cabin, the snarl on his face replaced now with a smirk. “Now comes the hard part. The physical side is done, now I just need to find a way to… make this shrine an actual thing. Make it work.”
