From the diary of Kyra Marsh Dated: 12 Eleint, 1497 ---- Finally! The Vorsthold job pushed savings right to the 400 gold mark so I could afford the security deposit on a shopfront. I'm open for business and can start to help the people of Port Ffirst with some level of authority. The new office is nice. It's a bit small, but it's enough for now. A waiting area and a back office for meeting clients. I'm glad to not be working out of a cat cafe anymore. As sweet as they are, nobody takes a paladin covered in cats me seriously. To Do: - Find someone to sit up front and handle clients. Needs to be someone reliable. Someone I can trust.
- Check in with contacts for possible jobs
- G'Lish (Thirsty Dragon)
- Jess Hinks (Docks)
- Botts (Sewers)
- Get some business cards
I hope the guards don't get pissed off about me doing their job for them. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Kyra puts down her pen and leans back to take in her new office. In the corner is a small shrine to Tyr, a little copper hammer sitting in front of a pair of scales. Kyra looks towards the shrine and thanks Tyr, a short prayer to the god of justice for her recent success. She jolts back to reality as someone knocks on her door. She hurriedly clears her desk and looks up to see the top of a head just visible through the frosted glass. "Come in." The door opens and a Halfling in a plain white shirt and an Apron steps through. Kyra gestures towards the chair across from her and they hop up into it. "Are you er..." they look back at the door to read the writing on the other side of the glass, "Kyra Marsh? The detective?" Kyra leans forwards, her hands together on the desk, a helpful smile on her face, "Yes, that's me. How can I help?"

Diary
Dated: 17 Eleint, 1497
----
On my way to Daring Heights to find Thorngage. Still not sure if he's ran off or been taken. Runaway spouse seems most likely. There'll be someone whose heard something if he's around.
Hired Elaith Ibryiil to manage the office when I'm away. Found him at the soup kitchen when I sat down with them to chat. He worked the front desk for an shipping firm at the port until the boss closed up, took all the money, and bolted to the Sword Coast during the rift invasion. Wouldn't even stand with his employees during a crisis... Disgusting.

Missing Persons case: Finnan Thorngage
Race: Halfling Age: 75 years old Height: 3 foot 2 Weight: Stocky Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue Occupation: Baker
Callie Thorngage (wife) came to the agency to request help findingon the 10th of Eleint. Disappeared on the 2nd, reported to the Port Ffirst guard on the 4th. Guards unhelpful (typical).
Callie described their business as "not great but we're not going hungry." Finnan has been acting reserved in the weeks leading up to his disappearance. Snapping at Callie and children more often than usual. Odd behaviour began after his younger brother's divorce.
No evidence of odd debts or enemies and Finnan has friends in Daring Heights.
Next steps: - Go to Daring Heights, ask around about Finnan.
---
Diary
Dated: 20 Eleint, 1497
Have spent the past 3 days asking around about Finnan. Not enjoying the higher beer prices out here.
The barman at the Ettin, Coll, pointed me to Tomin Althorp a notorious gossip. Plied Tomin with as much beer as he could drink and he let me know about Niffan Roseglove, a newly arrived Halfling at a nearby farm. Niffan is busy drinking himself into a stupor amongst other things. Tomin refused to tell me about what else, "Not the sort of thing a holy woman like yourself would want to hear miss." Ass.
Paid off Tomin's tab, 5 gold total spent on expenses.
To the farm!
---
Missing Persons case: Finnan Thorngage Addendum
Finnan possibly operating under the alias Niffan Roseglove in farm just outside Daring Heights.
Suspect that Finnan has decided his current life is not for him and has decided to try some alternatives.
Next steps: - Attempt to convince Finnan to go home.

Back in Port Ffirst. Cats went everywhere when I got back to the Thirsty Dragon, Justice erupting from under them to meet me. I missed having her with me.
Niffan is back with his wife. Found him neck deep in whiskey at the farm Althorp pointed me at. After forcing coffee down his throat and indicating that I had no tolerance for deadbeats running out on their kids he sheepishly agreed to come back to Port Ffirst with me.
We almost got dumped at New Hillsborough when he threw up on the wagon-driver's back.
I almost dumped him in a river myself.
He's home now at least.
Todo: - Tell Elaith to remind me to check in on Callie Thorngage.
---
Dated: 28 Eleint, 1497
I have acquired a reliable source of coffee. Lyra Brunaqua.
I was finishing up the paperwork on Niffan yesterday when Elaith popped his head into the office. Said a girl wanted to see me. I have seen her whilst patrolling the area, running too and fro, packages and coffee in her arms.
She was here to offer to bring coffee to the office regularly. We've come to an arrangement. I pay her, she brings me coffee and anything interesting she's head.
She won't stop talking. Introduced me to Brick, a dockworker cursed to never float. I'm not sure it's a real curse, but maybe I can help him get over his fears.

Met Bruno, lives on the street. I tried offering him soup and to pay for a room at the Seashank. Wasn't interested. Nice to talk to.
Reminds me of the old duke. Odd.

Tallied up months income with Elaith. We brought in over a hundred gold pieces. I gave twenty five to a soup kitchen in Old Town, the rest will help to ensure next month is as successful.
I was checking out the docks and ran into Brick who pointed me in the direction the Amberwitch. Ended up having a drink with a Lizardfolk, Akazia, she was telling me about some group on the Sword Coast talking about bring over contraband to Port Ffirst but I missed the names. Too much booze, too enamored with her scales. A very pretty blue-green. She called me a softskin.
Below the entry is a small doodle of a Lizardfolk woman

Went to the dock again. No sign of Akazia. Ended up wandering the market for a while looking for something to do. Caught a kid stealing fish from a stall and ended up listening to Poppy Fairfoot talk about fish for three hours straight. Tyr save me. The fish were endless. I drifted out of the conversation for a while, focused more on her salmon hairclip and the splashing fish pattern on her dress to pay attention. I swear her shoes looked like fish too.
Caught a few snippets whilst trying to stay awake about some expedition going missing in Sunset Spine. "That nice Mister Arty needs some help so I hear." Told her I'd look into it. Anything to escape the fish.

From the diary of Kyra Marsh Dated: 19 Marpenoth, 1497 --- Tracked down Mr Aspen, told to meet the others at the Seashank in a couple days. He told me to watch out for the "blunt fire lady" so it seems Blaze will be coming along. Other than that the week has been uneventful. The jewelers over on Hornstrip Street was robbed, turned out to be the security guard taking bribes to let people in the back. Some green haired elf in from Daring Heights has been hanging around at the Seashank all week, kept an eye on her and have seen her heading to the Emporium weirdly often. Not sure I trust her. Todo: - Speak to elf - Take case reports to guard for review - Write letter to parents - Take letter to Ffirstmail

--- Dated: 23 Marpenoth, 1497 ---
Soup kitchen day. It was busy today, too many people with bad coughs. I could only heal a few of them.
Spent time speaking to Bruno during a break whilst he ate making sure everything was alright. Seems better than ever, told me at length about the finer details of high class cutlery use.
---
Dated: 25 Marpenoth, 1497 --- Spent the morning nailing up job postings in the taverns looking for people to go back up to the Sunset Spine. Spoke to Jedd about getting the word out, he pointed me in the direction of a couple folks who've been up there lately and won't shut up about what they saw. Ended up getting a location out of a pond up the mountain where they saw penguins.
This case is getting weird. Teleporting cryomancers. A ship in the mountains. Penguins way too far north. A king nobody has ever heard of and a Werebear infecting traders. Maybe it's just what Kantas is like but this doesn't make sense.
--- Dated: 26 Marpenoth, 1497
---
More time in the office drawing up plans for the trip up the mountain. Elaith keeps reminding me to make sure I had enough coats for everyone.
