Sat in the bar of the Three Headed Ettin wondering where one of her favourite socks has gotten to, Alenea meets up with Ziarae, and Levuka. Having concluded some scroll related business with Levuka the group agrees to go see the Genies that Alenea rescued from Avernus that now live at Thia's Refuge.
On the way the group runs into Barnabe Hoggins who proceeds to berate Alenea for her poor gambling abilities and insults as a cheat, to which she yells after him that she's never cheated (she probably has). Shortly after Ziarae notices they are being followed and together the group manages to convince Whistler to join them, who informs them that they have been watching Thia's refuge and want to know why we are going and why Alenea has been going their recently. They inform her that they're just going to see the Genies and that Alenea has been teaching history there recently. They then carry on to the refuge.
Unfortunately when they arrive they are informed by Allenby that the Genie's have gone to the academy and have not returned yet, but they definitely should have by now. The group then heads to the Academy where they run into Primus, Secundus, and Tertius. The latter of this group let the group know they haven't seen the children but do inform them of the quite interesting research into trans-planar forces that has been faciliated by their presence and powers. Once brought back on track Tertius is able to perform a scrying ritual that locates the children at the Red House.
Quickly hurrying to the Red House, with Alenea disguised as a generic street tough she calls Cait, the group are able to talk their way in past the bouncers. In the bar and having mentally scouted the outside of the building using Alenea's familiar they decide to sneak into the staff only upstairs of the building.
Upstairs the group attempt to disarm traps and stealthily reach the top of the building but at the last moment are verbally invited into the final room where they are confronted by a sharp toothed gnome, The Notorious D.O.C., surrounded by goons with the genies drunk and asleep on a pile of cushions.
The group introduce themselves, Alenea as Cait still, and demand that the genies be allowed to leave.
After a quick debate over the ethics of holding the genies against their will The Notorious D.O.C. agrees that if they want to leave, they can leave. Alenea then attempts to shake Sorte awake, and dropping her fake Cait voice whispers to him that it's Alenea and that he needs to come with her. He agrees and the group attempts to leave with the genies.
The Notorious D.O.C. is not a man of his word however and informs them that they won't be leaving after all. Fortunately Levuka is able to use suggestion to convince him to allow them to leave, which they happily do.
upon reaching the bar the group is confronted by the barkeep and a bouncer who attempt to stop them leaving. After an extremely brief fight in which the barkeep is slashed half to death and the bouncer has his mohawk set on fire the two surrender. On their way out Alenea gives the Tabaxi barkeep a potion of healing for their wounds as a gesture of good will.
As the group leaves they turn to look back at the Red House and see The Notorious D.O.C. staring at them from a window, a grin on his face.
Alenea takes this opportunity to yell up to him to "remember the name Cait".
