Arkadius sighed to himself, stepping through the threshold into the store. He closed the door behind him, and heard the voice immediately. “Why, Arkadius! The dearest of all my friends. Come on in, what brings you to my side today?”
Arkadius gave Menace a brief smile in response, before the sad look on is face returned. “Evening, Mace. I am… Afraid I have some bad news, and… I am struggling.” Mace looked shocked and appalled, as he does on hearing such news, and was eager to hear more. "Oh no, that's terrible! How can I help you?"
"The business with Avernus and the Vanguard hit business badly, and... people started using that damned Transport Circle rather than shipping things through me,” he replied, emotion slipping into his voice. It was clear he was… Struggling. “It's... left a bit of a hole in the business finances, and... I haven't got the coin to keep the business afloat without temporary... assistance. I'm missing 1,500gp. Which... if I hadn't bought this new wand, I'd be able to plough my own funds into the business.” He waves his wand to punctuate the sentence, “But hey, I was selfish, and now I run the risk of leaving my staff without a job, and I can't stand that."
Mace nods sadly, This is a tale I have heard all too often, he thinks to himself. "That is indeed quite the pickle you are in. And through no fault of your own, of course! But not to worry, I will be more than happy to do you this favour and provide you with this loan of 1,500gp, to get you back on your feet. Pay me back when you have the money, I am sure you are good for it. But some day, and that day may never come, I shall call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this favour as a sign of my enduring affection, my friend.”
Arkadius smiles happily at his dear friend. "Thank you, you know how much FfirstGroup means to me... I will make sure that you are paid back in full at the earliest convenience. I am... grateful for your dear friendship, Mace. This means the world to me... thank you. And... of course. You know I am right here by your side whenever you need me." Arkadius offers his hand to Mace, to seal the deal, and Mace grips the hand, shakes it, but doesn't let go.
"Wonderful. Now if you don't mind, I would love to take a look at your ledgers. Maybe there is something I can help with? I am an investor after all... For now, at least.”
