2020-06-23 – By arm the chance (part 2) – Taffeta (OOC)

Hopefully once the whole finale is finished I'll do an in-character write-up but here's a quick update for those who want to know what's happening.

When last we left our heroes (Baine, Pieni, Sunday, Taffeta, Varis), Zariel had just arrived with a couple of pit fiends.
After a little banter, they attacked the party.
Early in the battle, Sunday invoked Corellon using a leaf Corellon had given her earlier. Corellon appeared and summoned a great big tree that killed one pit fiend and knocked Zariel out of the sky. But this seemed to exhaust Corellon, who collapsed. Sunday put them on the back of eLk and the three vanished.
Varis made a further attempt to persuade Zariel to abandon her attack on the material plane but she refused and the fight continued.
A nearby volcano erupted, sending a stream of lava rolling down toward the place of the battle. Something also appeared flying in from the distance. It turned out to be Bel, former ruler of Avernus deposed by Zariel and apparently taking this opportunity to move against her. He and some of his followers engaged Zariel and hers in combat.
At around that point, a hollyphant named Lulu appeared and started chatting to Baine, inviting him and his allies to visit the merchant Mahadi whose Wandering Emporium was currently near by. After confirming that they would still be able to keep an eye on Zariel from there, and could get back to continue distracting her if she stopped being distracted by Bel, the party agreed to go.
After being given a short tour by Lulu but declining, for now, to do any shopping or recreational activities, the party agreed to have a free meal in the Infernal Rapture restaurant as Mahadi's guests. They had a very tasty meal, except for Pieni who declined to eat anything in protest at the inclusion of myconid caps on the menu.
