Za'Suulan Cheeses
By Lord Jaezred Vandree
The nation of K'ul Goran was recently ravaged by a war with giants and a massive explosion caused by a curse on their soil -- or something. Cape Za'Suul, just across the water from Port Ffirst, suffered some of the worst damage, as the once-moderately pretty seaside town is now full of rubble and filth and plagued by pirates who are eager to take advantage of their weakened defences.
In fact, when I returned there not a tenday ago in the company of adventurers who wish to help the Za'Suulans rebuild, the city was very nearly overrun by these wretched sea-mongrels. The local magistrate (a very rude and irate man) had sent us away to defend a village that was under attack by a group called "the Shunned" but, on the way, the scout spotted a fleet of black-sailed ships going to Za'Suul. Worried that we might be trapped in K'ul Goran should the harbour fall, we made haste to return to the city and helped in repelling the pirates. The angelborn cleric I mentioned two weeks ago was also there, and she conjured spikes on the ground that hindered the villains and allowed the rest of us to pick them off. (Commendable.) And there was also a most wonderful noble grung warrior amongst us, His Excellency G'Lorth the Magnificent, who delivered his poisonous strikes with deadly precision; I am most delighted to have made a friend in His Excellency. Of course, I wielded my arcane and divine gifts with great expertise to slay the pirate captain -- a large, black minotaur who bothered me once a year ago. Good riddance.
They later find that the magistrate had been paid off by the pirates to let the city's defences down. I expect that anyone travelling between the Dawnlands and K'ul Goran by sea will see more ships with black sails in the near-future.
In spite of all their troubles, the Za'Suulans, desperate to get back up on their feet, have now continued to do business as usual, and that means high-quality, artisanal K'ul Gorani cheese is back on the market. To assemble an ideal Za'Suulan charcuterie board, I would recommend three essential cheeses that you can purchase in Leonetta the Tabaxi's excellent DeliCATessen shop:
Don't forget to add dried fruits and candied nuts to balance out the palate. And there you have it, an authentic Za'Suulan cheese board to impress at your parties.
Postscript: Recently, yours truly had the honour of designing The Flourished Hook's new menu for the next month. Their chefs are the best in the Dawnlands and I promise you, the food will not disappoint.
Thank you to Kantas Worldbuilders for creating the extensive cheese lore of K'ul Goran and to Ian (Menace) for his cheese recommendations and running an excellent game.

To assemble an ideal Za'Suulan charcuterie board, I would recommend three essential cheeses that you can purchase in Leonetta the Tabaxi's excellent DeliCATessen shop:
- The Za'Suul Blanc. As the name suggests, it is a pristinely white cheese; fresh, with a soft and crumbly texture and a mellow taste. Sprinkle a bit of sea salt and water cress for a mouthful of bliss. Can also be spread over bread.
- Nrav'Garat Harvest Cheese. An aged hard goat cheese encrusted in herbs and pepper, with a strong and distinct palate. Delicious with any cured meats of your choice.
- Feta-style sheep cheese in olive oil. Serve with lots of olives and aromatic herbs.
Don't forget to add dried fruits and candied nuts to balance out the palate. And there you have it, an authentic Za'Suulan cheese board to impress at your parties.
