“Took long enough... You get everything?”
Markas nods as he takes a seat, “I did. It took a little asking around to find everything. Everyone was giving me odd looks when i asked for a set-”
“What!? No! You can’t just go around asking for a set, what’s wrong with you!? People get suspicious!”
“Yeah, I noticed! I managed to get everything still, Jared had-“
“Who now?”
“Jared, works in the Locksmiths just up from Milo’s place, the Hammerfall Blacksmiths?”
Karen gives the half-Elf a wry smile, “Jared…. Right. Go on”
“Uh… so, Jared… had some old picks he didn’t mind selling me and I got the rest from a few different places.
"
“Good. Well? lets see 'em!”
On cue, Markas unfurls a small leather cloth revealing his newly acquired tools and lays them on the small table as Karen begins picking through and criticising their quality. The Hung Rabbit was fairly quiet this time of day and besides the two of them, the only other person around was currently preoccupied trying to put some sort of shine onto a grubby looking mug with a filthy rag behind the bar. They had been meeting the same time every other day for a week now, Karen (If that really was her name) being the only one willing to teach him. He had spent weeks asking around and being put off by that strange cat before finally finding someone who didn't think he was just trying to catch them out somehow. Then again, maybe she did and just thought she was smarter than he was?
“This is crap!”, a small pick is tossed away. “The rest are alright, I guess... Scissors are blunt and the mirror’s cracked, should find summint better but it’ll do… you remember what it’s all for, right?” she casts an interrogative look at her student.
“Yep!”
A wolfish smile crosses her face, “Let’s get some practice in then shall we? Give us that ring… don't worry, I won't run off with it!” she says with a wink
. Markas looks at her for a long moment before taking off the silver ring on his left hand and handing it over to Karen.
“Good!” As she takes the ring and inspects the carvings on it, she also pulls a small lock-box from under the table, dropping the ring in and slamming it shut. Giving it a quick tug to make sure the lock had caught, she slides it across the table to the Half-Elf opposite her. “Open it”
Markas balks for a second, looking at the lock box in front of him. “Erm…. you have the key for this right?”
“Nope!”
“.... Why did you need the ring?”
“Call it incentive”
