As the group of adventurers made their way back through the streets of Daring Heights, towards the orphanage, a member of the townguard runs up to them.
Wellby! You look like Wellby! he exclaims. Your father has half the town looking for you, don't you know! Quite the reward this will get me. And he drags Wellby off from the group, back towards the guilded mirror.

Wellby is in their suite, now guarded by two portly town guards, waiting for his father to come back from looking for him. He hears footsteps, the door opens, and his father appears.
You little... Where have you been?
Wellby had rehearsed a script for this. About how he'd gone on an adventure, rescued an orphan from a mischievous imp, and how his dad should be proud of him, all the stuff he'd done. But as soon as he locks eyes with his father, emotion overtakes him. He runs straight up to hug him, bursts into tears and wails:
I, I, I just went to save an orphan. I thought we'd be quick, I thought I'd be back before your meeting. I just wanted to try some magic in the real world. But then we had to go off to a cave that was days away and I didn't know how to turn back. The others were real adventurers and I couldn't let them down so I kept going. And then we went to the cave and there were monsters, real monsters, I, I
For a few seconds there's only inaudible sobs and whelps, before he finds enough composure to continue.
I got attacked by this thing with a claw, it grabbed me and lifted me up and I almost died dad. I almost died. The other adventurers had to heal me. It was so scary, I thought I'd never see you again.
And with that he starts choking on his own tears again. His father had no idea what to say. So he just comforted him for a while, before finally speaking up.
I'm glad your okay son. I think you've learned your lesson. Now let's get you out of this terrible little town. And not a word of this to your mother, okay?
