Cadfan slipped back into his room and chucked his travelling bag on the floor. This room had only been his home a few weeks, but after the trouble he had gotten himself into at Nearthorn and the following celebration, he was glad to be back.
He sat down on his bed and felt the hag’s odd doll press into his side. Pulling out of his pocket, he inspected it. He hadn’t meant to bring this with him back to Daring Heights. What was he going to do with this now? The dead eyes stared back. Not creepy at all. He lobbed it onto the table on the other side of his room.
So after all that he had just fifteen gold to his name. Well it was more than ten at least. But it wasn’t going to keep his room at this inn and food in his belly for long.
He’d yet to spot anyone who needed anything slipped out of their pocket or taken from their home. The real bad sort of person. The type who wouldn’t notice a bit of gold missing here and there. So that line of work was out of the question.
What would he have done for work back in Wolfwater if things hadn’t gone the way they had? Well there was the family inn. He’d gotten good at handling people’s orders, serving ale, and even concocting his own brews out of hours. But that wasn’t an option he…
What a bloody fool he was. A stupid, stupid man. This was an inn. The whole building, the place he currently called home in Kantas. And he was sitting here having been brought up in the inn business wondering where he could find work.
With the popularity of the place and the likelihood of rowdy adventurers carousing, they could use a pair of extra hands here and there. He’d make enough to finance his room and his meals, they wouldn’t even need to pay him if he just worked for room and board.
Cadfan jumped up off of his bed and marched downstairs to the bar.
It was time to teach himself old tricks.
