Dear Paladin Gara Wavecrasher,
I have just come back to Port Ffirst after a successful mission in the name of Generous Umberlee to find your very urgent message. I am grateful that the High Priest has requested you to receive my letters to him, so that you can read them to him personally and posthaste. I know how busy Milady Umberlee keeps my hands, so it for the best the High Priest will now be able to hear my messages without having to stop doing Our Saviour’s work.
I am glad to report that my mission to the Angelbark Forest was completed to the satisfaction of Milady Umberlee. She told me Herself ‘well done, Onno’ with Her melodious voice, so have no fear.
I journeyed once more with Madame Augustine Aggie Boumound(?) Rochefort (?). She is incredibly resilient and driven. She also can take quite the beating for her Silvanus Sugar Dad-deeo (? This appelative is new to me). Her love must be strong. It’s a pity she gets so defensive about Bountiful Umberlee. I told her that milady is not jealous, She only wants more people to embrace Her, no need to leave the other Gods in the cold. I also met Wren the Glowing, Jacinta the Halfling, and Bogg the Halfling (also). They were all very capable and I detected in them the Seed of Llove for milady. What boon must be for them to experience it for the first time.
As I mentioned to you in person last week, the request for help I found on the noticeboard at the Seashank came for a group of Faithful. Milady told me so many times, and she never lies. Thanks to my skilled companions we reached the tree in the forest were the author of the message had asked the willing to meet. We were greeted by a Donovan the Erina. He was incredibly cute, milady told me so immediately!
He confirmed his Faith in Wise Umberlee to me and told us of owlbears that have started threatening the life and livelihood of his colony of Faithful. We agreed to help him by finding the owlbears and relocating them - if at all possible. milady told me she likes owlbear too.
We went looking for the owlbears with the help of our skilled trackers, but we soon found ourselves dragged into combat to help a Bawb-by (?) the Aarakocra. They were being attacked by two deer-birds. I saw in Bawb-by the Spark of Love, so I jumped to the rescue. We fought and Bogg roasted the birds. Wren seemed to like the smell of roasted bird.
Bawb-by was examining the corpse of a poor Almiraj when they were attacked. The Almiraj’s horn had been removed! Milady said “nooooooo!” at the discovery. I was enraged by the sight. We discovered this circumstance is relatively new, but it has already happened multiple times recently. Milady said “NOOOOO!” at the news. I was furious by then. These lizard people that Bawb-bby suspects are behind it all have saddened Mighty Umberlee. I swear they will taste Milady’s wrath soon.
We still had to help Donovan and his Faithful however, so we pushed on and found an owlbear. My companions all hid very quickly, I, however, played rock in the middle of the tall grass. The owlbear approached and it was a ghost! We were bewildered by the discovery, but soon realised a fight to the death was happening in a clearing not far. A large deer-bird had just landed the final blow on an equally large, monstrous mound of vegetation. All sorts of victims were trapped inside the mound, including the carcass of an owlbear. Left in the clearing were the large bird of prey and an owlbear cub. “Ooooow” said milady to me. “Ooooow” I replied. A strenuous fight ensued that will be forever known as the Battle of the Cub - milady willing. We were victorious in the end despite the monster and the piercing cries of strange vines all around the perimeter of the clearing. Madame Eggie - although I think only other Glowings like Wren can call her so - didn’t even permanently die. The dead owlbear, now ghost, turned our to be the cub’s mum. She was able to see her cub once more before disappearing. Luckily Bawb-by and their village will take care of the cub. Donovan was also very happy the safety of his colony and livelihood had been restored by Umberlee’s intervention.
Best wishes.
Onno
P.S. Please tell HP Donnie that I shall keep defending him when milady calls him ‘big oaf’. She is just very demanding of Her Priests.
