Several years ago, on a ship known to a few at the Orca and feared by many for the black flag among its sails, Tugark contended with his captain over the long-standing campaign to search for The Pearl, an infamous treasure sought by many from a tale that quickly became legend.
At the time Tugark was first mate, the captain’s confidant. The strain of their search, the fervour with which the captain planned their routes, was stretching the crew to breaking point. Tugark knew this, and sought reason from the captain. Without a crew there could be no search, but the crew grew tired until one fateful night when Tugark took an important page from the captains notes and hid it. Once the captain discovered this he faked a mutiny attempt on Tugark’s behalf, gaining the crew’s favour which lead to Tugark being marooned in the Moonshae Isles, where after some time Tugark managed to survive and seek out some form of civilisation, specifically where the Portal to Kantas was first found by Daffles and there was something of a tent town built around as people heard about it and came from far and wide to join the exploration. With nothing more to lose, Tugark signed up.
