I really want to have a go at both Call of Cthulhu and Cyberpunk 2020. Anyone else out there fancy trying something a little less magical and a little more grimdark?

Yes! I miss call of chuthulu. I'm in Oh, you've played it before? That's great, at least someone will have an idea of what's going on!

I've played quite a lot of Call of Cthulhu (d100, not the d20 version), and even ran a game once - it's good times. Always make more than one character, preferably 3, and read every book you can find. Never played Cyberpunk 2020 though. I'm up for either, but I'll let other people play Cthulhu for sure - my friends and I play it all the time.

TBH, while I had a good time testing the waters of running a D&D one-shot, I don't think I'm quite up for running a whole new system just yet - Do you think it would be possible for you to run a Cthulhu game or two for tasters? I hope that's not too big an ask - and I certainly don't want to steal you away from Kantas duties!

I don't know the d20 version, so I can't reliably tell you the difference! But basically, for dice rolls, you have a skill between 0 and 100 and you try and roll below your skill. So the more points you have, the morelikely you are to succeed.
I'm always happy to run other systems, although I don't have any of the sourcebooks for Cthulhu, so I'm not sure I can do that well. Anyone else? Kath?
If a change is what you want, I have plenty of other systems, as some ofyou have experienced!

andycd I've picked up the PDFs for both, I have a terrible habit of collecting things that I might never use - would love to play them just don't have the confidence yet to run a "new" system myself.

Okay, so I've decided I'm gonna run a game or two of CoC first. Cyberpunk can wait. As a thank you to our resident GMs, I'm gonna offer them first dibs on player spots. To give me time to learn and prep, I'm going to call them Halloween specials and play them in October. Neil, andycd what say you?

Perfect - I'd had the same thought about Halloween. Honestly, I enjoy Cthulhu, but I'll give others the joy of player death so they get to experience it. Maybe I'll run a similarly horror game for then. The 31st does fall on a Tuesday after all...
